Volvo claims that with all-wheel drive, seating for 7 and anti-skid systems, XC90 is one of the safest SUVs’ around. Now this is the tall claim for equally tall in dimension SUV XC90 but we don’t suspect this pompous of Swedish car maker as the company is well known for its safety image. Still XC90 has its own share of limitations; biggest one is its meek and timid body shell design that severely lacks the masculine and rugged appeal. Although quite functional in nature, XC90 heavily misses out on the much beloved intimidation theme that we Indians love to attach with our big oil gulping and smoke spewing SUVs’. On the positive side though XC90 comes with load of equipment that even involves the AWD system that helps not only in off-roading conditions but also in devastating climes to hold the driver’s control intact on the vehicle. XC90 also offers quite a versatile seating arrangement as 7-seat option comes handy for king-size family or even occasional get together with friends. Dual screen rear entertainment system that has got the backing of three choices of sound power, XC90 makes sure that no moment feels a dull one. Anti-skid system, child booster cushions and protective laminate glass take care of the safety aspect that has indeed on of the prime reasons for choosing Volvo over its competitors.
