Volvo V90 Cross Country

Volvo V90 Cross Country available in 1 variant

Swedish car maker Volvo has launched V90 cross country in single D5 Inscription trim in India at a price of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom, all India). This estate version of the V90 cross country is based on the SPA platform which also underpins the XC90 SUV and S90 Sedan. Upfront, there is little to differentiate as the V90 cross country comes with similar frontage made up of low slung nose and Thor Hammer headlights. The real different starts image in the profile where the V90 cross country is massive in size. Still, the grill and tail lamps are the family affairs.

The Volvo V90 is priced between S90 Sedan and XC90 SUV and it comes all the details and cues of a typical Volvo. You will find Volvo signature grille up front flanked by very stylish thor Hammer LED headlamps. The nose of the car is low slung and the rather flat bottom adds up to the design. One can also get the impression of the squarish hood all the Volvo has made some effort in order to round the corners. It is in the profile that Volvo V90 feels tremendous in size and dimensions. Thanks to the use of 20-inch alloy wheels, the V90 has a ground clearance of 210 mm which is a good 60 mm more than S90 sedan. That makes it wonderful off roader which is capable of clambering over any kind of obstacle that the road throws your way. Volvo has offered all wheel drive as a standard option here and like the S90 Sedan, v90 also comes with adaptive air suspension which is helpful in order to tackle different kinds of terrains. Yes it is a known fact that most of the estate cars haven't done well in India but in the form of V90 we have one of the prettiest looking wagon that may very well change this trend. Even the Volvo top bosses are very much hopeful about this and in the interaction with the media, they have hope that Indian people will give a positive response to the newly launched V90 cross country. There is a massive boot space to the tune of 560-liter which is flat and very much practically laid out. There is also option of tumbling down the rear seats which will increase the boot space to a massive 1526-litre; wide enough to even shift the homes. The space beneath the boot is reserved for storing of spare tire.

As the Volvo is offering the model only in a single variant, it has thrown all the equipment and features in order to make this one very special for the customers. You will get a panoramic sunroof, 19-speaker, 1400-watt Bowers and Wilkins high-end music system, cruise control, an electric tailgate, remote boot opener, and paddle shifter for the automatic transmission. Inside the cabin, there are a lot of familiar things; making you instantly aware that this is Volvo car. There are Nappa leather upholstery, electrically powered front seats with the additional facility of ventilation, 4-zone automatic climate control, and electrically operated boot.

The car offers a tremendous amount of space both at the front and the back rows of seats. The customers are sure to be spoilt for their convenience and all the electronics and gadgetry makes travelling in Volvo v90 just like an experience similar to travelling in a business class. Front seats are supremely comfortable and thanks to the electrically heated feature, owners will find them extremely relaxing in nature. There is an electric adjustment for the bolstering as well as for the lumbar support. The cushioning is perfect and spot on and the Volvo designers have done a fabulous job in finding the right combination comfort, style, and convenience. What's more, you will also get heated steering wheel which is extremely exciting features and sure to find favour with the customers. Rear seats too auspicious however this could be better on the thigh support. Nonetheless, customers will not get inconvenient with a little less thigh support and the tremendous amount of leg room and head room will compensate for it.

As with all other Volvo cars, the V90 cross country is load to the gills with safety features. It comes with 6 airbags, pilot assist system, front collision impact mitigation system, and much more such features that will make this estate as one of the safest cars available in the market. The V90 comes with the power of 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine capable of putting out to 235 PS and 480 NM of max Power and max torque respectively. These figures make the V90 even more powerful than S90 and XC60 SUV. The main highlight of the Indian is the use of power pulse Technology which allows the engine to work in a spirited manner even low down the rev range. This technology is especially useful in the lower end of the revolutions and undoubtedly it has bettered the response of the Volvo while pulling clean from the law regulations. That said, there is still a bit of the hesitation in the lower range before the car starts pulling convincingly. The car is offered in four different driving modes - eco mode, comfort mode, off road mode, and dynamic mode. As the name suggests, eco mode is for saving the fuel and result is obvious in terms of getting dull responses from the engine. Comfort mode cleverly balances the things but it is the dynamic mode which helps you to realise that true potential of V90. The company has also offered the off-road mode and once you switch on to this, you will find the Indian transferring more power to the rear wheels. The engine is mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission which offers a healthy combination of fuel efficiency and performance. For the most of the time, you won't have any issue with the transmission but as an enthusiastic driver, you can have some grudge about the speed of the gear shift.
