Volkswagen has always been counted as one of the big names when it comes to car manufacturers. The company has gained popularity across the world with its spot on German engineering which is known for power and refinement of cars. The car was launched initially a few years ago but company thought it was time for a change to make it a prime seller. With the latest model the company seems to do everything correct. The trendline is available in six colors which are the Night Blue, Carbon Steel, Copper Orange, Reflex Silver, Flash Red and Candy White.
The German Hatchback is powered 1.2 liter MPI Engine which has a capacity of 1198 cc and which produces power of 74 bhp at 5400 RPM and peak torque of 110 Nm at 3750 revs. The Multi Point Injection (MPI) system has become the main fuel delivering system in the engine after the carburetors. With a big fuel tank of 45 liters considering it is a hatchback the car can literally go miles. The car can go upto 16.5 kilometers on a liter of juice which is descent but more shall be expected from a hatchback. The car can seat 5 people but he car is not so spacious and is a bit cramped up. The German powerhouse under the hood doesn’t surprise us when it drives this well and smooth even upto pretty high RPM’s, engine only makes the presence felt when the engine is pressed hard a lot. The car goes from a standstill to 100 in 16.5 seconds which is not great and could have been better, this only suggests that there could have been more power to support it on highways. The car has a forward wheel drive which makes it a bit hard on steering because of all the forces acting on it. The front has McPherson strut with stabilizer bar and he back has Semi-Independent trailing arm. Priced at Rs 4.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) the pricing is average for the base model.
Exteriors and Interiors
It is not much on the luxurious side on the inside. There is no climate control but one does get air con with heater. It has a power steering and 12V power outlets. Seats have got fabric upholstery on them of descent quality. Only the front passengers have the luxury of power windows to them, passengers at the rear will have to do with manual ones. On the outside the ORVM’s and bumpers are body colored. There is no entertainment system as such, one has to buy his own music system.
Safety wise the car has air bags for the driver and co-driver. The Polo Trendline also has engine immobilizer, central locking and child safety lock up its sleeve. The car is designed for high crash resistance. What the car misses out on is the Anti Lock Breaking System.
