Volkswagen New Passat

Is this car too good? When VW launched its first-generation Passat, it marked the departure from the Beetle and its derivatives - and ushered in the era of front-wheel-drive cars. In its fifth model generation, it went over the top with an available eight-cylinder engine. That one didn't sell well - but VW kept refining the Passat, and here it is in its eight generation - faster, better, and more sophisticated than ever. It is built atop the VW Group's impressive MQB modular-transversal architecture.   The car has already hit the European market and it features a .4 litre turbocharged petrol engine with a maximum power of 50 BHP and a 2.0 litre TDI Diesel engine with a maximum power of 240 BHP. The car has manual transmission with the petrol and it is pretty quick and responsive (automatic features are optional). There is also a feature which works in order to deactivate two cylinders when they are not being used and even it works pretty modestly. For a D – segment sedan this car has a remarkable fuel efficiency of 20.4 kmpl and can hit 100 kmpl from 0 in mere 8.6 seconds.   The petrol engines are good but Volkswagens are known for their diesel engine (not just the scam). This 240 BHP engine takes the competition to a whole new level. This full of torque powerhouse walks through 200 KMPH like a piece of cake. Plus there are no extra noises due to this and the car reaches a top speed of 240 KMPH. It has a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.   Just are there are 5 petrol engines in Skoda Superb 2016, there’s a chance that Passat might do the same. Volkswagen’s petrol engine 2.0 TFSI capable of hitting 280 BHP could represent some variant of Passat in the future.   Passengers adore the brilliance of the car’s interior works. The looks of the lower trims are pretty bleak but while moving towards the high end models the equipments and upholstery become more and more luxurious. The car is more spacious than before. There is an optional TFT display which helps the driver to get those extra – navigational screens right in front of him as and when required. An extra head’s up display is optional.   The 8th generation Volkswagen Passat is one of Volkswagen’s most innovative concept and might even have some trouble in its package for its Skoda and Audi kins. The car will range between Rs. 24 to 30 lakhs (ex – showroom price, New Delhi). The car will have a optional 2.0 Litre TDi Diesel engine and much more. Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price. Lucky Toyota.
