Toyota Vios

In early 2015 Toyota Vios was first spotted testing in India and there was news that the sedan will eventually replace the Etios in the sub-continent. A facelift version of the Vios has now been launched in Thailand and the same may arrive here later this year. It is rivalling the Honda City in South East Asian countries. Vios has been reviewed as a strategic car for developing economies and in India it will be locally manufactured to keep the costs down. The facelift model of Toyota Vios has a new design language and carries enhanced styling that has upped the premium quotient of sedan. It comes with detailed cosmetic upgrades and some of the styling cues are from new-gen Toyota Camry that was showcased at 2017 Detroit Auto Show. It is on the front that Toyota Vios 2017 gets its most prominent and this is also where it strongly reminds of its sibling – the new generation Camry. They share the same V-shaped design feature with the Toyota logo in centre a large black chrome grille below it. With big, wide air intakes for this car, adequate air can flow to the engine and the wheels.    Facelifted Vios has updated horizontal sweptback headlamps with projector lights and LED DRLs. The round fog lamps also have good illumination for visibility in weak light conditions. Front bumper looks neat in terms of its design albeit the vertical LED daytime running lights it houses on sides look like an after-thought. The hood of Vios has been redesigned for this version and it carries subtle creases that seamlessly flow towards the A-Pillar. In its profile view, the sedan does look smart with balanced body proportions. It gets softly flared wheel arches and there is prominent detailing on door panels. The new alloy wheels have a sporty design. The wing mirrors are also new and come with integrated blinkers.  Probably because the design is flamboyant on the front, Toyota decided to go light on the rear. So Vios has simple looking elements at the back but they do balance up the overall appearance well. The LED tail lights are big and have a wrap around style. A sleek chrome strip is the bridge between them and it has the brand logo above it. The rear bumper is expansive but does not have any elements to cut the visual bulk.  There are some new offerings in the cabin too. To begin with, it now comes in all-black theme with red underscores. At the centre of the dashboard there is a stylish touchscreen infotainment system. The AC vents below this set up are big enough for good supply of air. Further down are tactile dials to control the different features. For its safety equipment Vios gets ABS with EBD, brake assist, stability program, ISOFIX child seat mounting points and a traction control program. The cabin looks spacious with adequate legroom for front and rear seat occupants. The car launched in Thailand has 1.5 litre petrol engine that generates 108 bhp and offers 140 Nm of torque. It is coupled with a CVT unit. In other markets Toyota Vios also has a 1.4-litre diesel engine and gearbox options of 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Onlookers have seen the test mule of Vios on different occasions but the model seen here was not the same which got launched in Thailand. We expect the company to bring the facelifted iteration to India even though there is no official declaration about the India-spec model yet. Toyota nonetheless needs its C-segment sedan in this part of the world and any version of Vios launched here will have to rival against the updated Honda City as also the Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. To fare well in the competition, they should plausibly bring the newest avatar.

Fortuner Vs Endeavour full blown SUV Competing for Buyers Wallet. Real SUV for SUV lovers from Toyota and Ford. Endeavour and Fortuner comes in 4*2 and 4*4 drive train. Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price. Lucky Toyota.
