World’s number one Automobile manufacturer is in a huge dilemma to save its position in the c – segment Sedan in India. The makers of the hit Fortuner and Land Cruiser are finally working their way out to launch the face – lift of Etios as no major changes have been made to the car since its launch in 2011. That’s almost five years, almost 3 generations of Honda City and Maruti Suzuki’s SX4 replaced by Ciaz also has gotten a minor face – lift. Only Toyota is to be blamed for the failure of Etios in the Indian market. The car failed because of its boxy and very basic looks.
For the new generation of Etios, CEO Asia – Pacific Operations, Toyota stated that since design is one of the major issues, Toyota will create a brilliant looking piece of work this time. It is being rumored that the new Etios will feature daytime running LED headlamps and an exterior pretty similar to that of the new Corolla Altis.
The interiors of the car will be slightly modifiedand this time Etiosmight get a 7 Inch Touch Screen Mirror Link System. Also, a little addition in the safety department can be expected. Toyota is readily focusing on the fuel efficiency and the durability of the car as does the other companies. Company like Maruti Suzuki and Honda wants its cars to be known for entire machine not just for some particular feature. Toyota even carried out a study and will certainly keep the people’s view into account for this next generation Etios.
Although, the exterior of the car might not support it’s sales but there is one thing which does. It is the car’s engine. Etios is good performer and is widely used as a rally car. The car might come with two petrol engines – 1.2L and 1.5L and a 1.4 diesel engine.
Each company is trying to copy Honda’s act of launching a family of car – Brio, Amaze and Mobilio, i.e., a hatchback, compact sedan and a MUV.So is Toyota as there have been speculations about this and not only Toyota but Renault and Maruti are considering this strategy. Etios already has a crossover and a hatchback in it’s family. So keep waiting since that time isn’t far off where you’ll see at least 5/ 6 models of Etios.
The car’s price will fall in a heavily competitive range. It might have a starting cost of a little over 6 lakhs and will climb up till Rs.12 lakhs. This calls for competition from a lot of compact sedans like Honda City, Nissan Sunny, MarutiCiaz, etc.
