A practical, affordable, feature loaded premium sedan from the house of Tata Motors – this is what the Manza can be described as. Launched in diesel and petrol variants, Manza Club Class is an authentic saloon with a length of 4413 mm and wheelbase of 2520mm.
Coupled with 5 speed manual gearbox, the 1368 cc petrol engine has a maximum power of 90 PS @ 6000 RPM and torque of 116 NM @ 4750 RPM. And here’s an account of features in Manza Safire LS, the base variant:
Manza is an Indica Vista look-alike from the front. Observe it a little more closely and the difference is noticed with bigger headlamps and longer, sleeker bonnet. The base variant Safire 90 LS has body coloured bumper rubrails although these (rubrails) have not been put on the doors. The door handles too are in plain black colour. A touch of style comes with chrome fender/hood strip. Windshield has 7 speed wipers with smart wipe. Manza Safire 90 LS gets manually adjustable ORVMs on both the doors. It runs on steel wheels that are fully capped.
The base variant LS has black & beige interiors with fabric upholstery for the seats. The dashboard has been sculpted ergonomically and the instrument cluster is right in front of driver. A tachometer with critical rev indicator has been provided.
Cabin of this sedan has a number of cubby holes in form of door pockets and the bottle holders in front console. A storage tray has been created under the co-driver’s seat and glove box also has spaces for pen and cards. A power outlet has been fitted in front. Other cabin features comprise lights in front and rear, a vanity mirror on front passenger’s sunvisor and a digital clock on the dashboard centre.
The list of comfort feature in this entry level version of Manza Club Class petrol is somewhat short. There is a manual air conditioner with heater but without electric HVAC controls. Windows on all four doors need to be manually rolled up and down. With regards to ergonomics of seating, only the headrests of front seats are adjustable. Neither is the driver’s seat adjustable for height, nor is there any adjustment convenience for lumbar support. There is a lamp in the boot and this makes it easy to adjust things in the trunk in dark.
A collapsible steering wheel column is the major safety feature of this saloon and it is there in all variants including Safire 90 LS. You get a high mount LED stop lamp for enhanced visibility of the car in dark. Child safety locks have been given for rear doors. The anti theft feature is an engine immobilizer.
Manza Safire LS costs approx 5.91 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi). Simple and sober design, good gearing ratios and ample space in cabin are some of its strong points.
