As a saloon Tata Manza may not have very upmarket profile but it has been designed practically with wonderful cabin space and a host of features inside. Indeed Tata has adorned it with some special elements that are only seen in luxury sedans that cost almost double the price of Manza.
Manza Club Class comes in both petrol and diesel variants. Let’s look into the design, comfort and safety features in entry level diesel model: Quadrajet 90 LS
With regards to its looks, the Manza largely replicates Tata Vista right up to the rear door. But the boot has been integrated quite seamlessly with the roof to make it a genuine saloon. Manza Quadrajet 90LS sports body coloured bumpers with rubrails. These are larger and more protruding than Vista’s bumpers to create the longer saloon look for Manza. The ‘motorised clear lends headlamps’ are also new and bigger. 7 speed wipers with smart wash have been fitted for the windshield. Manza also comes with bright chrome fenders even in this base variant. Prominent crease along the sides makes for some aesthetic detailing. Manually adjustable ORVMs are there on both sides of the car.
The wheelbase has been increased to ensure optimal space in the cabin and tyres are now 185/60 R15. Manza Quadrajet 90LS has steel wheels with full caps. The new tail lights that sweep back almost halfway along the trunk lid, try to break the boxy appearance of the rear although the design still does not look very appealing.
Externally, the Manza may seem a lot like Vista but step inside the cabin and you see a world of difference with plenty of upgrades. The dashboard is new and the instrument cluster is now right in front of the driver – it is clearly visible through the gap of the steering wheel. Tachometer with critical rev indicator is also given. You also get a digital clock on the fascia.
Texture and appearance of dashboard looks refined. Seats have full fabric upholstery inside the black and beige cabin. With cubby holes and a tray under the front passenger’s seat, lot of storage space has been created for your little items. The glove box too has a card holder and pen holder. Cabin lights have been fitted at both front and rear. Other basic features include a power outlet in front and a vanity mirror on front passenger’s sunvisor.
Being a base variant Manza Quadrajet 90LS does not have many features that translate into more comfort and convenience. It as a manual air conditioner & heater. There are no power windows. On the seats, simply the headrests are adjustable and that too, only for front seats. Lumbar support on driver and front passenger’s seat is fixed. A boot lamp has been provided.
For safety, Manza Quadrajet 90 LS comes with a collapsible steering column. It has high mount LED stop lamp to be sufficiently visible in dark. Rear door child proof locks have also been provided. For an anti theft element, Tata has optimised the Manza with engine immobilizer.
Tata Manza Quadrajet 90LS costs Rs 5.99 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi). Fuel efficiency of 11.6 kms/ litre to 21.12 kms/litre in diesel makes it a good value for money. This sedan is also fairly easy to handle and maneuver.
