In the year 2010, the Tata Indigo CS (Compact Sedan) received a makeover in terms of engine, technology and design. This renovation came to be known as the Tata Indigo e-CS or the Tata Indigo CS e-series. The new Indigo e-CS was recently launched in India in June, 2013 and it presents itself with some rather notable features.
Externally, the Indigo e-CS looks stylish with its chrome splashed look and the smoked headlamps. The front grille looks swanky with its chrome finish and so do the chrome ringed fog lamps. A little chrome garnish at the rear also adds to the look of the car. The Indigo e-CS is also furnished with turn indicators on the rear view mirrors which are there on both mid and top segment variants. Multi- spoke alloy wheels make for a dashing addition, though that is available only in the top end segment.
This sedan is no less impressive on the inside as well. It comes with a four spoke steering wheel and fabric lined seats, all fashioned in the ambience of dual tone interiors. Also, now the Indigo e-CS comes with a coin and pen holder in the glove compartment box. Another prominent feature is that the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels have been greatly reduced and it’s rightly called the Anti Acoustic Chamber. The Indigo e-CS has also been gifted with an advanced multifunction music system which is capable of Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity in the mid and top segment variants. In terms of safety, this car comes fully prepared with a central locking system and also a child safety lock on the rear doors.
The new Indigo e-CS has the options for diesel as well as petrol engines and they are equipped with a manual 5 speed gear box and power steering. The 1.4 litre CR4 Common Rail diesel engine rolls out a power of 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.2 litre MPFI (Multi point fuel injection) petrol engine gives out a power of 65 PS and 100 Nm of torque. With a mileage of about 25 kms/litre (as claimed by Tata) this sedan definitely becomes one of the best choices for those who seek “value for money”.
The Tata Indigo e-CS comes with quite a few variants in both diesel and petrol: the LS CR4 BS4, LX CR4 BS4, VX CR4 BS4, LS TDI BS3 and LX TDI BS3 being the five options in diesel and GLS BS4, GLX BS4 and GVX BS4 - the three options in petrol. This vehicle gives you a range of impressive colours to choose from such as Starlight Blue, Royal Burgundy, Porcelain White and Arctic Silver. The pricing of the Indigo e-CS is margined between 4.78 lakh and 6.03 lakh (ex showroom price, Delhi) depending on the model and the variant.
The Tata Indigo e-CS was certified as the most fuel efficient sedan in the country by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). With smart and significant technological improvements and elegant additions in design, this vehicle makes for an enviable buy among all others in its segment. This sedan is now all ready and rearing to hit the roads with a practical approach and a classy style.
