Renault Pulse

Renault Pulse – Alliance at Work Tough times need innovative thinking, discipline of cost management and quicker turnaround from concept to production. Pulse is a fine example of this philosophy in real life. During Q & A when asked, as to how different the Pulse is from the Nissan Micra, the matter-of-fact answer, simply was, exteriors front and rear with the innovative space utilization internally (even though not as innovatively as the Honda Brio) are the key points of difference from the Nissan Micra. Pulse however, shares Nissan’s V platform, Suspension and Transmission System not to forget the Push Button Start. The level of close association and sharing among two cars would have, definitely helped Renault Pulse to prune its developmental cost. Hope the same would be passed on to the customers. Renault is not shying away from this obvious similarity to Nissan Micra. They are rather proud of it. And why shouldn’t they be, after all it has helped them launch a compact premium hatch in just 6 months of their existence in India (where more seasoned players like Honda and Toyota have taken years to do so). Thus fast forwarding their ambition of establishing Renault as a strong India committed brand, not to forget, the power it would have to attract more dealers on board. Media launch too was timed to perfection by co-inciding it, with India’s first Formula1 Race. Getting Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing - Driver) to drive in the Pulse along-with Karan Chandok on stage was a master stroke. A deliberate well thought out strategy, which on one hand would ensure reams of media space and on the other, would reinforce Renaults image as producers of performance cars. A virgin territory available for grabs. No wonder they showcased the 1.5 Ltr dci powered sporty versions of the Renault Pulse only. Showcasing the diesel variant of Renault Pulse only was in-line with current market trend, where consumers seem to have simply rejected the idea of owning petrol powered cars. The top-end variant of the Pulse showcased at the media launch, boasts of features like; Automatic Climate Control, Dual Front Airbags, Leather Steering Wheel Covere, All Doors Power Windows, Top-end Stereo System with Aux-in facility, Steering Mounted Controls etc. The car surely is well loaded. We expect a price tag between Rs.5.50 Lacs to Rs.5.75 Lacs for this variant of Renault Pulse. It seems as if all energies were focused on the development of the new Renault Pulse, as there is an obvious desire to tread the beaten path in marketing the Pulse by positioning it as a car which offers class leading performance and fuel efficiency, comfort of space and peace of mind (safety) to a new car buyer in India. Unfortunately every other OEM / Car manufacturer like: Hyundai, Maruti, Honda, Tata, Nissan, Fiat, Ford, Chevrolet promises similar features to new car buyers in India in this category Senior officials from Renault however are quite confident of the fact that the moment a prospective new car buyer steps inside the Renault Pulse he would almost instantaneously experience ‘Innovative usage of inside Space’ making them opt for the Renault Pulse over other competing new car in the category. We sincerely hope the customer experiences this magic, as visually the car looks small from outside and if the pricing strategy is anything similar to Honda Brio, then this car surely would face some initial hiccups. Basis our information, the car will be dispatched to dealers around Mid December and will be available to Indian Customers starting Jan 2012. Good Thinking.

Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price. Lucky Toyota.
