At another attempt to increase its share in the hatchback market, Nissan recently launched the XE variant for Micra Diesel. At a price of Rs 5.57 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi), it is now the cheapest variants of Micra in the diesel segment. The fourth generation hatch with refurbished design and certain user-friendly elements, Micra diesel XE is available in two new colours - Olive Green and Turquoise Blue. Other shades include Blade Silver, Storm White, Onyx Black and Brick Red.
An ARAI rated of 23.08 km / litre on diesel speaks volumes about the efficiency of this economy hatchback.
Here’s a description of its prominent design attributes:
The facelifted avatar of diesel Micra got only better in terms of design and styling. Nissan has done away with that rounded design that marked the original car though the new look will seem slightly feminine to some of you. Since this is the new entry level variant, Nissan had to eliminate some of the stylish features. So instead of body coloured bumpers, ORVMs and door handles, you need to be content with plain, black ones. There is no chrome on the radiator grille and lower front grille.
To fit this car in the base segment of Micra, some aesthetic attributes of the cabin had to be removed. The company however has not compromised upon the quality of materials for the dashboard and upholstery. So the features omitted are rather cosmetic. One of these is the chrome finish on parking brake, internal door handle & speedometer ring. Other missing features are the digital clock, cup and bottle holders.
Comfort and convenience
Like all other variants of Nissan Micra, this one also comes with power steering that is rake adjustable and it does have a tachometer. So what if it is a low priced entry level variant, you do get a drive computer in here! You will miss power windows in the Micra Diesel XE and there is no remote keyless entry and push button start. Air conditioning works well.
The standard driver side airbag common to all variants is a safety feature in the Micra Diesel XE too. Engine immobilizer is another aspect for security. Further, the instrument panel has indicator lights for door ajar, low fuel level, headlight on and key remove warnings.
By cutting down the price, Nissan has tried to make diesel Micra a more value for money proposition. If you like the new design of this hatch, are looking for an average diesel car and do not mind missing upon some comfort features, the Micra XE Diesel would be a good choice.
