The Mercedes Benz B class is a luxurious Hatchback that comes with front wheel drive systems. This car is a compact sports tourer and meant to impress all ages and kinds of people alike. This class of vehicle was primarily launched in March 2005 catering to European market. Since its launch, its makers Mercedes Benz conducted several facelifts and introduced different editions with refurbished designs and features. Till the year 2011 it has introduced around seven editions adapting the change of taste and technologies present in market. This recent model was launched in the month of September for Indian markets. In 2012 the makers unveiled B class in two variants for audience present in India. There were B 180 and B 180 Sports equipped with petrol engines. This also marked the entry of first sports tourer in the Indian car platform. According to reports, the B class would be soon launched in Diesel variant that is expensive than earlier models but offers several distinctive features.
The B 180 model comes with many unique features such as cruise control through Speedtronic meter, oil pump control, one touch wipe function, central display, automatic air conditioning with dust filter etc. The car is also equipped with advanced technology Eco start/stop ignition button, audio 20 CD and surround sound system. In safety all B class models come with attention assist where the driving person is warned automatically in the case of inattention or sleepiness. The interiors are plush and comfy for all passengers.
Merc’s B 180 sport model is an advanced edition and comes with certain additional features. This car is equipped with a panoramic glass sunroof that could be accessed with one touch. In interiors the makers have provided suffice luggage compartment, 4-way lumber support under driver seat, generous leg room, electric adjustment of driver seat and facility of child seat attachment. This model is also equipped with Audio 20 CD system that allows video as well as audio play. There are several airbags provided for passenger safety.
B class models have a 1595 cc engine with 4 cylinders that are configured as In line system. This petrol engine extends 124 Ps (90 KW/122hp) / 5000 Rpm power and 200 Nm torque. The top speed achieved by this engine is approximately190 Km per hour. This is a 16 v turbocharger engine that comes with 7 speed automatic transmission. The engine provides displacement of 1.6 liters and direct petrol injection technology. The variable valve timing and turbocharger offers superior power as well torque to the vehicle at the same time maintaining lower energy consumption. The wheelbase of B class petrol cars is around 2,778 mm.
These B class models are present in a range of colors that include Jupiter red, Cirrus white, Pollar silver, Sprint blue, Pearl effect, Vermillion red and Metallic. This Hatchback has become the largest selling car of Indian market owing to its blend of important features and striking aesthetical elements.
