Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift 2018

This will probably be the most awaited launch of the year. Maruti Suzuki Swift – the hatchback that broke all records of sales and became the most sought-after car in its segment will be seen in its newest avatar this year. The company will launch the car officially at the Auto Expo but the bookings have already started at token amount of Rs 11,000.  Seen earlier at the Geneva International Motor Show, the new model of Swift is also on sale in the international markets. In India it will be available with the same engines – the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel – as in the current version but the diesel is expected in a more powerful, retuned version.  What’s even more exciting is that the Swift will now come with automatic options for both the engines. The company has also tested other engine options including a new 1.5 litre diesel that will ultimately take the place of classic 1.3 litre Fiat sourced unit. An SHVS variant and a version with 3-cylinder, 1 litre boosterjet engine used in Baleno RS are also on the cards. Suzuki has done a praiseworthy job of redesigning the new Swift. While managing to retain the distinctive body language of the original model, it has added exclusive design cues that also give it a look different from the previous generation versions. Therefore, along with the iconic curvy shape that was always the identifying aspect of the Swift, there will be new backswept headlights, grille and bumper. In the top end ZDi + and ZXi + variants the headlights will also be adorned by LED daytime running lights. At the rear we will see a new bumper, updated tail lamps with LED touch and a spoiler with stop lamp. The new Swift shares its platform with the Baleno. However it will be around 10 to 15% lighter than its sibling. This reduction in kerb weight will help in enhancing the performance and fuel efficiency.  The iterated platform used for Swift is also 10% stiffer than the current one used in Baleno. What else does the 2018 model bring? It will have broader axle tracks, a lowered centre of gravity and spring & damper settings. These set ups are closer to Baleno RS than the regular Baleno. Together, they make the car more fun to drive. As for the 2018 Swift’s cabin, it has been made livelier. The dash has minimalist design and the steering wheel looks sportier and more upmarket. The two-pod instrument console also has a slightly different layout as seen in the internationally launched version. The Indian spec car may not have all of the elements as in global model and there could be some unique touch ups. However, we do look forward to top end versions having touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Paddle shifters are also expected. Interestingly, the cabin will have more space than in current model.  It has increased by around 25%. There is more legroom for occupants, and behind the rear seats the boot storage space has gone up from 200 litres to 254 litres. The price is likely to be in the range of Rs 5 lakh and 8 lakh. Once again, since it is the much loved and in-demand Maruti Suzuki Swift, be prepared for long waiting period. It could be between 3 to 4 months.

Fortuner Vs Endeavour full blown SUV Competing for Buyers Wallet. Real SUV for SUV lovers from Toyota and Ford. Endeavour and Fortuner comes in 4*2 and 4*4 drive train. Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price. Lucky Toyota.
