Mahindra Quanto C2 is one of the top compact SUV''''s offered by Mahindra. Mahindra introduced the Quanto model in 2012, with its Scorpio and Xylo models already being a top selling models for Mahindra. Mahindra has been a staple brand in the UV segment, with the Scorpio model being its niche carver and the Xylo & XUV500 models being the new player in that niche.
Mahindra Quanto is based on Ingenio platform, which looks similar to Xylo model and thus inheriting its prominent features and class from Xylo itself. It is compact version of the Xylo model, making it a first sub-4 metre SUV in the segment whether be it by Mahindra itself or compared to other manufacturers.
Mahindra Quanto C2 being in sub-4 metre category helped Mahindra to enjoy the excise duty of small cars plus had Mahindra''''s SUV DNA added to it. Mahindra aimed strategically it to the buyers of the entry level sedan and diesel hatchbacks, with price of Quanto C2 being competitive enough to lure the customers of entry level sedans and diesel hatchbacks.
Specifications and Performances
The Mahindra Quanto C2 has Mahindra''''s powerful mCR100 engine with twin turbo. It is the latest diesel engine made by Mahindra. The 1.5 litre Common Rail diesel engine is a DOHC unit with 4 In Line Cylinders with 8 valves per cylinder, which generates a maximum power of 100 bhp at 3750 rpm and produces maximum torque of 240 Nm at 1600-2000rpm. This latest engine which a smaller version of the mHawk engine and is mated to 5-Speed 5MT320 manual Indirect Shift gearbox. This diesel unit may be downsized version of well known mHawk engine but it has nothing short in performance quarters, as it is well calibrated engine which scuttles within 14 seconds from 0 to 100 kmph and can manage a top speed of 160 kmph.
Quanto C2 is having a more powered and configured engine as compared to the likes of entry level sedan and diesel hatchbacks, to which it is competing but it is not a single bit short on mileage numbers, with on-par overall mileage of 17.1 kmpl.
Exterior and Interiors
Quanto C2 inherits its most of the features from the Xylo, but Mahindra has not just took its Xylo styling and pasted on Quanto C2, rather it has tweaked it in a new style and design. The front grille is wide with chrome-accents, the headlight-cluster taking a right amount of space. The bumpers are black, front having no Fog lamps with considerable air-dam in-between. From side the roof-rails accentuates its high stance, the ORVM''''s and door handles are black. It has 15inch steel wheels with tubeless tyres. The rear is sturdy with Stepney-wheel being mounted on the tailgate.
Inside, the cabin has basic level interiors having features like HVAC, Power steering with tilt adjustment, half floor console, mobile charger in middle row, glove box, Utility box on floor console, seats with vinyl-covering and manually-operated windows. It can accommodate 5+2 adults comfortably.
Quanto C2 has also some basic safety features like Digital Immobiliser and Child lock systems in the middle & the rear door, besides front disc-brakes and rear drum-brakes.
