South Korean manufacturer Hyundai has owned the Indian car consumer market since the time it introduced its first car in 1996. The carmaker introduced Hyundai EON that marks as the entry level hatchback for the Indian car consumers and is amongst the top selling vehicles owing to its price. The car has 814cc engine fitted to it that runs on petrol with single overhead-camshaft that is skillfully attached to a 5 speed transmission of the manual type. Other features that define comfort include the bucket-type front seats, pedestal space exclusively, storage in dashboard, dual-tone interior and many other features. It is amazing that Hyundai has packaged the car with some safety features such as engine immobilizer, body structure of the reinforced form and other vital features.
Exteriors
The exterior has been designed astutely with the front fascia being outlined prominently imparting some chrome treatment too. The headlight cluster consists of high-intensity lamps and a wide air-dam that helps in cooling the engine faster. The car uses 12 inch wheels consisting of tubeless tyres with size 145/ 80 R12 and has body colored door handles. The car provides ample legroom and liberal headroom with respect to Indian consumers. The fuel tank capacity is 32 litres and a boot space of 215 litres and can be further increased with folding the rear seats.
Interiors
The car is a 5-seater and consists of fabric upholstery and the interior is colored in dual-tone beige with brown color. The car has ample storage space options all throughout the vehicle enabling smaller things to be kept at hand and some exciting features such as 3 assist grips, cup holder and storage console in the floor.
Engine & Performance
The car is powered by petrol that fires up the 814cc engine consisting of 3 cylinders and 9 valves. The petrol train consists of SOHC and an efficient method of fuel supply. The drive train generates 54.88 bhp at revs of 5500rpm and Torque of 74.53 Nm at revs of 4000 rpm. The manufacturer claims that this variant would be able to generate a fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl under ideal conditions with the top speed of 135kmph. The car takes just over 21 seconds to reach 100kmph.
Braking and Handling
The front tyres come with disc brakes whereas the rear tyres are fitted with solid-drum brakes. The front axle uses the McPherson strut mechanism coupled with coil springs and anti-roll bar for improving stability. The car is equipped with the gas-type shock absorbers for an enhanced performance.
Safety and Comfort Features
Engine immobilizer and child safety locks come as standard along with a few features that help ensuring protection and a better handling. The neat instrument cluster and other important lamps for notification such as low-fuel lamp, dual-trip meter, fuel gauge for graphic band and a gear shifting indicator as well as remote boot-lid with remote fuel-lid filler and rear seat belt, all help keep the passengers in great safety. Coupled with such features and striking exteriors, the hatchback defines the entry level in the Indian car market.
