Eon is a 5-door hatchback by South Korean auto maker Hyundai. The model was designed jointly by Hyundai R&D centers in Namyang, South Korea and Hyderabad. The car was launched in October 2011 and is aimed at the first time car buyers in India. The car faces major competition with the hot-selling Mauti Suzuki Alto.
The Hyundai Eon comes with 0.8 L MPi SOHC 9 valves 3 cylinders engine. It has a displacement of 814 cc. The dashboard sports a storage space that can be used to keep small articles like keys & mobiles etc. and a pedestal space in the centre to place accessories or idols. The curvy centre console comes with metallic highlights that impart style and houses various ergonomically placed controls like a front heater core, a 4-speed blower driven by a powerful motor, ac and an easy-to-use rotary-type controls. The 3 spoke steering wheel accentuated with metallic inserts looks good and can be tilted and adjusted as per the driver’s convenience. Other features include floor console storage tray, map pocket with bottle holder in the front door, power windows, 2 DIN Radio+CD+MP3 Audio, 2 front door speakers, aux-in-port, USB port, gear shift indicator, graphic band fuel gauge, low fuel warning, dual trip meter etc.
When it comes to safety, the car has a square shaped radiator support panel, reinforced floor panel and door side impact beams that provide connection support to counter the huge forces generated on impact. Other safety features include front & rear seat belts, child safety rear door locks, engine immobilizer, inside rear view mirror and central locking. Key less entry, front fog lamps and driver airbag are available only in the Sportz variant.
Overall, its price makes it a good option but safety features and engine sound are few of the negative factors in the vehicle.
