Honda Mobilio

It's now official, Honda will start producing the Mobilo in June 2014, at their Greater Noida Plant. Honda plan sto produce 45000 mobilo in year 1 with both petrol and diesel power plant plonked under its hood. Basis past trend, most cars are launched in it's next month of production. Basis this one woudl not be surprised to see the Honda Mobilo launch anytime between 15th July to 15th August 2014, well in-time to be prepared to catch the full 2014 festive sesaon.  Maruti Ertiga is about to see a real contender in its field and this comes from the stables of Honda – the Mobilio prototype was already unveiled at the Indonesian Motor Show early in 2013 and Honda also showcased the production model at Tokyo Motor Show in November. Based on Brio’s platform, Mobilio has bagged more than 4000 quick bookings in Indonesia where the company conducted customer previews of this MPV. The car is expected to reach the Indian markets in mid 2014 and as per the pricing range in Indonesia (150 million Rupiah to 180 million Rupiah), it should cost around Rs 8.42 lakhs to 10.10 lakhs here. We will see this all new MPV at the Auto Expo in February 2014.    Honda Mobilio will be powered by the same 1.5L i-VTEC engine that powers the City. Its highest power touches 116 bhp and there’s 14.9 Kgm of torque. This will be mated to a 5 speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Three trim variants will include E, S and E CVT.    Honda has lagged behind most other car makers when it comes to offering diesel driven vehicles and till date we’ve seen it only in the recently launched Amaze. But now the Mobilio will also get Amaze’s 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that has a maximum power of 98.6 bhp and torque of 20.39 Kgm. Amaze with its i-DTEC engine is known to return a fuel economy of 15.2 kms/ litre to 25.8 kms/ litre.    The principle of ‘Man Maximum Machine Minimum’ has been again used by Honda in cabin design for Mobilio. The dashboard has a similar layout as in Brio and Amaze but a touch screen infotainment system will also be provided. Cosmetic upgrades are expected to include leather wrapped gear knob, silver pedals and the cabin will have a dual tone black and beige colour theme.    The second row in this car will not have captain seats and not even a centre armrest but there will be a roof mounted AC unit with three AC vents and switched to control the air flow speed. Windows in second row are of course bigger than Amaze’s and there is ample legroom, thanks to a wheelbase of 2650mm.  The last row of seats can accommodate two adults and although there’s not much space in there the boot is apparently bigger than that of Ertiga – there should be at least 350-litres of storage capacity that can further be increased by flipping forward the last row in 50:50 ratio.   There are not many choices in the MPV segment and Ertiga continues to lead but it will be interesting to see what Honda Mobilio has on its plate. Will an aggressive pricing strategy help to compete with Maruti Suzuki’s LUV? More news on this Honda model is expected soon once it is launched in Indonesian markets in Feb 2014.

Fortuner Vs Endeavour full blown SUV Competing for Buyers Wallet. Real SUV for SUV lovers from Toyota and Ford. Endeavour and Fortuner comes in 4*2 and 4*4 drive train. Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price.
