The first thing that comes in mind while looking at the Honda CR-V is the fact that it’s a stunner. Bold, classy and endearing- all at the same time is what the CR-V is all about. It has been made available in an array of dynamic colours such as Carnelian Red Pearl, Sparkling Brown Metallic, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic and Taffeta White and no matter what you choose it in, this SUV looks simply awesome.
And it’s not just about the looks because this vehicle has proved itself in terms of performance too. The likeability of the car is evident by the number of accolades that have been won by the Honda CR-V time and again since its launch. The Honda CR-V 2L MT (manual transmission) comes laden with an SOHC- i-VTEC, in line, 4 cylinder, 1997 cc engine combined with a 6 speed gearbox (6 forward, 1 reverse).
The sporty looking Honda CR-V 2L MT comes with 17” alloy wheels with ten spokes in it. An impressive front grille with halogen headlamps on sides makes for a fine front look. The outdoor handles and mirrors are body coloured. The mirrors are also auto retractable and sport side turn indicators. The tail lights run all the way to the top and add an interesting touch to the rear look of the vehicle. Fog lamps have been provided for safe driving in misty or hazy weather.
The inside of the Honda CR-V is a spacious heaven that is designed for comfort and peace. The gear shifting knob and steering wheel are leather wrapped and so is the upholstery of the car- done up in fine leather. Vanity mirrors on both the driver’s and the passenger’s sides come with illumination. You also get a sunglass holder. Cup holders are there in centre armrests for rear seats.
An integrated audio system with radio, MP3, CD player is there. It comes with USB and iPod connectivity too and plays in tune with six speakers (2 front, 2 rear and 2 tweeters). There is also a 5” TFT colour screen display that provides information for multiple things such as fuel consumption and digital clock. An independent dual zone auto A/C is fitted to better the drive of the Honda CR-V 2L MT. Also an RR camera with i-MID display is a huge boon when reversing the car or parking it in tight spaces.
The Honda CR-V comes with a lovely jack knife key fob that folds and easily fits into one’s pocket. For the convenience of the driver, a foot rest has been provided and of course the windows are powered for this premium SUV. The driver’s side window has an Auto up/ down that comes with the Pinch Guard function. The driver’s seat is 8 way adjustable too and comes with lumbar support. The leather wrapped steering wheel also comes with tilt and telescopic functions that further make things easy for the driver. The electric sunroof is missing in this variant but nonetheless, other great features don’t make this one to be missed a lot.
Honda has tried to ensure maximum safety for its consumers by providing some great technology. The GCON or the G Force control technology helps in controlling the force of the collision. The ABS (Anti lock brake system) with BA (Brake assist) and VSA (Vehicle stability assist) helps in effective stopping by individually braking wheels and thus reducing engine power.
Another advanced feature is the Motion Adaptive Electronic Power steering control that corrects the steering as per running conditions and thus stabilises the vehicle even more. The SUV comes complete with dual SRS airbags as well as side & curtain airbags. It also has anti-theft safety features such as engine immobilizer and a security alarm system installed. Central door locking with a keyless entry system is enabled in the Honda CR-V 2L MT.
A much, rather complete vehicle that delivers a mileage of 13.7 kms/litre as per the company’s calculations, the Honda CR-V is one of the best options available today in the premium SUV market.
