The Japanese car maker that had been manufacturing only petrol cars for India has finally jumped into a segment with increasing number of customers. So Honda brings a 1.5 litre i DTEC four cylinder engine for its sub 4 metre saloon – the Amaze. There are 4 variants in the diesel segment and you can choose the one that suits your budget and needs. However, it is the excellent fuel economy of this diesel sedan that is its key selling attribute.
Let’s check out the features of fully loaded Amaze VX – MT Diesel:
As a top of the class model, Amaze VX MT is furbished with more of elements for better looks, performance and safety. Alongside standard styling features, it has turn indicators on the outside rear view mirrors and there are front fog lamps for a safe drive in hazy weather. A value added feature of this variant is the set of alloy wheels as against the steel wheels for all other versions in the diesel segment of Amaze. The aesthetics and fuel economy of VX MT is slightly better than E, EX and SM MT, thanks to this feature.
You get a dual tone beige theme for interiors and seat upholstery in Amaze VX MT. Carpet also has a shade of beige – although this looks far superior to black carpeting, it can get soiled soon and will be hard to clean. Along with silver touch on steering wheel and chrome rings around airvents, this variant also has silver finish on door handles for better surface appeal. Like the mid segment variant, it has 2 DIN audio system with AM/FM, MP3, USB and Aux in ports.
Amaze VX MT has a heat absorbing windscreen and thanks to this, the air conditioner works more efficiently.
In addition to the standard comfort features in common with mid segment model, this Amaze diesel has a defogger for the rear glass. Its ORVMs are electrically adjustable and foldable. Although Honda offers only manual air conditioner and heater in all versions of Amaze, the heat absorbing windscreen of this variant makes cabin cooling better.
Other differentiating elements are two vanity mirrors and instead of one as in S MT and seat pockets behind both the front seats.
To make Amaze diesel a truly attractive package, Honda has distributed safety features fairly across all variants. Reminders for seat belt, headlights and key- in are there on fascia of all versions. Engine immobilizer and WAVE key are also there in E, EX, S and VX MT. The exclusive safety features that only VX MT gets are a pair of SRS air bags and seat belt pretensioners with load limiter for the two front seats.
At a price of Rs 7.69 lakhs, Amaze 1.5 VX MT is the most expensive variant of this saloon. But the set of features it comes with and its powerful diesel engine do justify the price to a large extent.
