Honda finally has a car carrying diesel engine. Amaze diesel delivers almost everything that is expected from a saloon in its segment. Most importantly it gives a mileage of more than 20 kms/litre on the highways and this trait makes it popular for value conscious Indian buyers.
Here’s an account of the features in S MT variant:
This sub 4 metre sedan has been designed well and even if Honda has gone overboard with the slash lines on body, they blend well with the car’s silhouette. While hatchback Brio’s front grille gets a single chrome strip, Amaze has a twin slat grille with touch of chrome. In addition to design features common with EX MT variant, this more refined version gets mud guards for both front and back. It also has full trim wheels that are cosmetically superior to plain steel wheels of base models.
There are few more cosmetic and functional features in Amaze S MT than in EX MT. Chrome surrounds the air vents and the steering wheel has a silver garnish. This model has a 2 DIN integrated music system as compared to 1 DIN audio with coin box in EX MT. Further, the audio controls are atop the power steering wheel. Speakers have been provided in front as also the rear. There is an accessory socket in the cabin. The back seat has a centre armrest with cup holders. Amaze S MT also has seat pocket and vanity mirror with a lid on front passenger’s side.
The cabin for Amaze S MT diesel is more sophisticated than plainer one in E and EX models so the comfort level is naturally enhanced. To begin with, you can adjust the driver’s seat for height. It also comes with the convenience of keyless entry and the ORVMs are electrically adjustable. Other elements for comfort such as central locking, power windows and day/night adaptable power rear view mirror are common with base models.
Like its other siblings in the diesel category, Amaze S MT comes with anti lock braking and electronic brakeforce distribution. Standard safety elements such as engine immobilizer, WAVE key, stop lamp, indicators for seat belt, headlights – on and ignition key inside – are all there.
With its neat package of features suitable for a saloon in mid segment, Amaze S MT Diesel costs Rs 6.76 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi). This light weight, sub 4 meter saloon has a fuel efficiency of more than 20 kms / litre and this is where it gets thumbs up in India.
