Chevrolet Sail 1.2 LS - the sedan launched by General Motors in India this year- comes in four variants in the petrol league. This 5 speed manual transmission car with the same engine as the one used in Sail U-VA is placed against Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire in the sedan market.
Here is a brief about the features of the mid segment variant with ABS:
There isn’t any difference between the external styling of Sail 1.2 LS and Sail 1.2 LS with ABS. The two part grille with Chevrolet badge and upswept hawk wing styled headlights give the front of this sedan the look of Sail U-VA, the hatchback version with same engine. Like its sibling without ABS, this variant of Sail sports body coloured external door handles & ORVMs and also a roof antenna.
Cabin for this variant with ABS is again a replica of Sail 1.2 LS’s cabin. As a refinement from the base variant (PS) there is chrome touch on door handles and parking brake button, the steering wheel is covered in good quality leather and there is metallic paint on the air conditioner’s vents. But then this version also has some prominent features that are missing in Sail 1.2 LS sans ABS. One of these comes in the form of music system with radio, MP3 and CD player. There are ports for aux-in and USB devices and 4 speakers for good sound effect. You can also stream songs and music on your mobile through this audio system.
Sail 1.2 LS ABS cabin is little plusher than ABS-less version of the sedan. Along with the music system, you also enjoy the convenience of Bluetooth and mobile handsfree in this saloon. By pairing your phone with the system, you can make, receive, end and reject a call without moving your hands from the steering wheel. The caller ID also flashes on the phone pairing set up. Another extra feature provided in this model is a digital clock on the dashboard.
As the name suggests, the USP of this model is its ABS – the anti lock braking system with EBD (Electronic brake force distribution). So you can avoid uncontrolled skidding on slippery surfaces. All other safety features - such as airbag for the driver, speed sensitive autolock, reminders for seat belt, key in & open door, engine immobilizer and child protection door locks - are the same as the in other mid segment variant.
Chevrolet Sail 1.2 LS (ABS) sedan costs about Rs 31500 more than the LS variant without ABS but for this additional price, it gets you the music system and a couple of extra safety features.
