When General Motors launched its Chevrolet Aveo in the sedan market, the car failed to make its mark primarily because there was no diesel engine option. The company made some changes in the sedan but to target the mass segment once again, it brought out the saloon model of Sail in 2013. And the Sail saloon does come with a diesel engine albeit the same as the one used in Sail U-VA
There are 2 mid segment variants for Sail 1.3 diesel – with and without ABS. Let us check out the features of 1.3 LS (ABS):
There is not any difference between the styling elements on the body of Sail 1.3 LS and Sail 1.3 LS (ABS). The front & rear bumpers, ORVMs and outside door handles have a body colour treatment. There is a roof antenna and steel wheels have full caps. The Chevrolet bowtie on the two port front grille has been accentuated in chrome. There is 370 litres of space in the trunk.
The standard features in the cabin of ABS equipped Sail 1.3 LS are also the same as in 1.3 LS sans ABS. But this superior and safer variant comes with an integrated music system. There are ports for Aux-in and USB devices. There is a digital clock on audio display. What’s more you can also stream your mobile music to listen to your favourite songs with full effect on four speakers. Further, with the mobile paring ability you can make/receive, end/reject calls without having to move your hands from the steering wheel. Caller ID also flashers on the system. With these additional features, the ABS enriched mid segment variant is better than the plain 1.3 LS.
The phone pairing facility and Bluetooth connectivity given in this variant naturally make it more modish and comfortable than the version without ABS. All other features for comfort - such as air conditioner, power windows, tilt adjustment of power steering, interior courtesy lamp, luggage lamp, cubby holes and pockets for storage – are the same as in other model of Sail 1.3 LS in mid segment.
The fact that it comes with Anti lock barking system and electronic brake force distribution feature, makes Sail 1.3 LS ABS safer than other two models. All other elements for safety however are same as in Sail 1.3 LS without ABS.
Sail 1.3 LS ABS diesel is priced at Rs 6.92 lakhs and is about Rs.31000 more expensive than 1.3 LS without ABS. This diesel saloon sells chiefly due to its spacious interiors and decent ride quality.
