Pretty styling, spacious cabin, superior 995 cc petrol engine and a decent fuel efficiency make the New Spark 1.0 LS an attractive hatch for the price at which it is offered. It is a small, practical and easy to maintain car especially for new or first time buyers.
The 1.0 LS is a variant up from the entry level model - Spark 1.0. Here’s an account of its chief features:
The New Spark 1.0 LS is a facelifted version of the original car and was launched in last quarter of 2012. External styling is the same as that of the new base variant. It sports dual tone body coloured bumpers and a two part honeycomb front grille where the Chevrolet badge sits. As a refinement from the 2007 model, there are some tweaks on the tail lamps. Basically however the external design features are exactly the same as in the New Spark 1.0. There is nothing extra offered in the 1.0 LS variant.
The cabin design also replicates the new base variant’s interiors but it is a refreshing change from the old Spark’s cabin. It’s dual tone shade along with the seat fabric with fizzy design look pleasant. With a new digital tachometer, trip meter and fuel gauge, the instrument panel also gets a better appearance and user friendliness. Chevrolet does not provide a music system even in Spark 1.0 LS.
This is where you get a little extra as compared to the base variant of New Spark. The front windows are powered in the 1.0 LS variant. Additionally, as against normal steering in the 1.0, this one has a power steering wheel. All other elements for comfort and convenience – air conditioner, remote boot release and fuel lid release, reclining front seats and foldable rear seats, internally adjustable driver side ORVM – remain the same.
Again, with regards to safety features, the 1.0 LS variant of Chevrolet Spark doesn’t have any more safety features than the base model. So it comes with seat belts, collapsible steering column, tubeless tyres, brake booster, child safety locks and warning indicators for low fuel level and ajar door.
The refurbished Spark 1.0 LS maintains its key strengths as a city friendly and simple to drive hatch. Now, with its more flamboyant styling and slightly improved fuel efficiency, it is one of the optimum cars to buy on a small budget.
