General Motors launched Chevrolet Enjoy in the MPV market this year (2013) and like Maruti’s Ertiga, this is also available in both petrol and diesel versions.
Enjoy 1.4 Petrol comes with 1399 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine coupled with 5 speed manual gearbox. Let’s look into the design and functional elements that have gone into the styling of top end model Enjoy 1.4 LTZ 7:
Enjoy has a car-like monocoque body but the engine has been placed longitudinally and that sends more power to wheels. There is more work on this top end variant for superior performance and aesthetics. So it comes with alloy wheels as against steel wheels in base and mid segment variants. The front bumper, outside rear view mirrors and door handles have been treated in matching body colour. Chrome finish adorns the three dimensional front grille where the Chevy badge sits, the radiator front grille and the strip over license plate at the back. Leaf shaped fog lights have been provided in the front for more safety.
The two tone interiors reflect black and beige colours. With dual shade on the dashboard and a variety of textures, it may seem a little cluttered but the central console is very prominent and adds finesse to the fascia look. Instrument panel and buttons have blue illumination and this is in harmony with the design of dashboard. Enjoy 1.4 LTZ has leatherite upholstery as against fabric casing in the base variant. There is an integrated music system with radio, CD, MP3 player and Aux in +USB ports. Standard cabin design features for mid and top end segment are the same.
In addition to the standard comfort features - including reverse parking sensors, buzzer optimised remote keyless entry, height adjustment for driver seat, washer/wiper/defogger for rear glass and a multipurpose 12V power outlet in the third row - as in Enjoy 1.4 LT, you get the convenience of electronic adjustment for the outside rear view mirrors in this top of the league model. Thanks to separate AC vents for the rear, there is uniform cooling inside the cabin.
Chevrolet Enjoy 1.4 LTZ 7 has been equipped with anti lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD). This adds to the safety aspects of the MPV. Further, there are a couple of air bags provided – for the driver and front passenger - only in this top end variant. All other safety features are replica of the ones in mid segment model.
Enjoy 1.4 top end petrol model has a price tag of Rs 7.09 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi) and it has a maximum fuel efficiency of 13.7 km / litre. May not be as good a package as the Ertiga but it is recommended as a practical MUV if you expect a decent ride quality.
