Summer of 2013 saw the launch of yet another MPV by General Motors – Chevrolet Enjoy. And it comes in both petrol and diesel categories. A larger Tavera was already there in the market but with Enjoy, GM battles against Maruti Ertiga and so this has a 1399 cc 4 cylinder diesel engine. It comes as a 7 or 8 seater in the base variants and as a 7 seater MUV in the mid and top segment models.
A dekkho into the design features of Enjoy 1.4 LT 7, the mid segment version of petrol league:
Chevy Enjoy gets a monocoque body structure and so it looks like a car from the front. As a refinement from the base variant, the ORVMs and door handles in this version get a body colour treatment. There are 6 colours available for the Enjoy: Summit White, Sand Drift Grey, Switchblade Silver, Linen Beige, Caviar Black and Velvet Red. As an upgrade from the base variant, the radiator grille of Enjoy 1.4 LT 7 has a chrome finish.
There is a partial covering over the license plate at the rear and this too has been done in chrome. For added safety there are leaf style fog lights at the front.
The two tone interiors of Enjoy 1.4 LT 7 get leatherite upholstery. This is an aesthetic refinement from the base variant that is upholstered in fabric. For more sophistication, there is wood finish on AC vents, door armrests and gear knob. All other functional and design features are common with the cabin elements of base variant. Air conditioner cools the MPV uniformly, thanks to separate AC vents at back. And there is a music system with CD player, MP3, radio, Aux input and USB ports.
A set of extra features for comfort and convenience make this variant more modish than 1.4 LS 7 and 8 seater. The driver’s seat is adjustable for height and the power steering can be adjusted for tilt. Enjoy 1.4 LT 7 also comes with reverse parking sensors and a remote keyless entry facility with buzzer. Headrests on seats in all rows are adjustable for height. You can also wash, wipe and defog the rear glass from the cabin. Other additional things include a cigarette lighter, ashtray and a multi purpose 12 V power outlet in third row. Basic features for comfort such power windows, central door locking facility, tachometer, and courtesy lamps among others are same as in LS model.
Enjoy 1.4 LT 7 is equipped with few more safety features than the base variant. There are fog lights in the front and a CHMSL (centre high mount stop lamp) optimised rear spoiler. It also has speed sensitive automatic door locks. What’s more, there is a key-in and headlamps on reminder along with driver seat belt reminder and door ajar reminder on the instrument panel.
Enjoy 1.4 LT is a compact MPV with comfy and spacious interiors. It also rides, steers and drives well but it just misses on sophistication that could’ve improved its value against competitors.
