General Motors launched its new multi purpose vehicle in 8 variants: 4 each in diesel and petrol and at a price that smartly undercuts that of closest competitor – Maruti Ertiga.
The 1399 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine of Enjoy is mated to 5 speed manual gearbox and churns out a power of 102.5 bhp and torque of 13.3 kgm.
Let us delve into the features of Enjoy 1.4 LS 8
Let’s face the facts - multi utility vehicles are not very good looking because their form factor has to stay on boxy side to create more space in the cabin. So the Enjoy too has a van like silhouette particularly on the sides. But its front still gives it the appearance of a car, thanks to the monocoque structure that Chevrolet has given to this MPV. The 8 seater base variant has its front bumper in body colour and the rear in dual tone shade. The ‘swoosh style headlamps’ have been placed close to the edges of three dimensional front grille. The latter also has a chrome finish. Enjoy 1.4 LS 8 runs on steel wheels that come with full wheel covers.
The boxy styling that adversely affects the external aesthetics of Enjoy gives it an edge in terms of space in the cabin. Enjoy 1.4 LS ‘8’ is a true 8 seater with lots of space for a comfortable ride. With dual tone interiors in black and beige, this base variant has fabric upholstery. Instrument cluster gets blue illumination that looks good on black backdrop. There is a high volume glove box and space for storage has also been provided on driver’s side. You get cup holders in front console and map pockets in front & rear door. Music system has not been provided as this is only a base model.
To make the spacious cabin more comfortable, Chevrolet Enjoy 1.4 LS 8 comes with an array of comfort features. The air conditioner cools the interiors of this large MPV well thanks to separate vents at the back. All windows are powered and there is a central door locking convenience. Third row seats can be double folded if you want to stock some luggage behind. And because this is an 8 seater variant that can accommodate three adults in middle row, the seats here can also be split folded in 60:40 ratio as and when required. Headrests for front and second row seats are height adjustable.
Other comfort and convenience attributes subsume a tachometer, a digital clock on dashboard and sunvisors for both driver and co-driver.
Essential features for safety and security have been fitted in the base model. The front seat belts have three point ELR. You also get child safety rear door locks. Other safety elements inside the ‘safe cage body structure’ of Enjoy 1.4 LS 8 seater include side impact beam in front & rear doors, centrally located high-mount stop lamp, driver seat belt reminder and warning lamp for an open or improperly closed door.
In terms of features, Enjoy 1.4 LS 8 is comparable to its competitor Ertiga although the quality of its cabin materials is not very refined. The base model with seating capacity for 8 people is priced at Rs 5.59 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi price). Go for it if you hit the road frequently for long distance trips and travel with a big family!
