Chevrolet’s Enjoy is here to compete in the MPV category – a relatively less crowded but fast growing segment in Indian automobiles market. With 4 cylinder, 1.3 litre diesel engine, this car is mated to 5 speed manual transmission and can deliver a fuel efficiency of up to 18.2 km / litre.
Enjoy 1.3 TCDi LS is available in 8 as also a 7 seater option. Here’s an account of the features in LS 8
Chevy Enjoy 1.3 TCDi has been sculpted with typically multi utility vehicle kind of looks even though the front resembles a sedan car’s front. The short, sharply raked bonnet connects well with the large windscreen and there are interesting details on its huge body. There is a visible V line on the front and between the ‘swoosh style’, swept back headlamps is the three dimensional grille with Chevrolet badge. Front bumper has been treated in body colour but since this is the base model, the ORVMs and outside door handles are in black plastic. The external design features for 7 and 8 seater versions of Enjoy 1.3 TCDi are all the same.
This is a genuine MPV and therefore has roomy, airy interiors with good visibility from all seats. But the quality of plastics and upholstery inside is not very impressive and lacks refinement. Enjoy 1.3 TCDi LS’s cabin has been done in black and beige. The instrument cluster has a blue illumination that is in harmony with the tone of dashboard. There is a chequered finish on the front console. Along with a high volume glove box in the front, there are seat pockets and cubby holes for storage of little things.
The comfort features in Enjoy 1.3 TCDi LS 8 seater are the same as in LS 7 seater variant. The only prominent modification is the structure of the middle row seat – it accommodates three adult passengers instead of only two as on split seats of 7 seater model. There is an air conditioner at the back for uniform cooling effect. Central door locking convenience, powered front and back door windows, tilt rear quarter windows, and courtesy lamps for both front & back are some other features for comfort inside the cabin. All seat headrests can be adjusted as per passenger height. This MPV comes with sunvisors, remote fuel filler release, a digital clock on the dashboard and a headlamp levelling device. But the ORVMs are only manually adjustable.
A range of elementary safety features have been fitted in this model of Enjoy. The seat belts in front have 3 point ELR and there are child protection back door locks. Instrument panel has driver seat belt reminder and indicating lamp for an open door. The steering wheel has double horns. Other safety attributes subsume a centrally located high mount stop lamp and side impact beams on front and back doors.
Enjoy TCDi LS-8 has a price tag of Rs 6.85 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi) and even if it is marked down on sophistication, it is a practical and capable people-mover.
