Chevrolet Beat may now be more popular with its smaller diesel engine but General Motors has created at least 4 variants in the petrol league too. Priced at Rs 5.13 lakhs (ex showroom price Delhi), the 1.2 LT (O) is the top variant with few more features than the other model in the top end segment.
Here’s a description of the added elements in this variant:
As an upgrade from the mid segment variant, body coloured ORVMs and door handles have been fitted in the Beat 1.2 LT. And the more sophisticated Beat 1.2 LT (O) comes with alloy wheels. So that is one of the ‘options’ that you enjoy in this version of the hatch. Lighter alloy wheels improve the aesthetics while also offering better heat conduction. And they have the same strength as that of steel wheels.
Cabin of Beat 1.2 LT (O) is akin to the basic top variant’s cabin. The interiors look plush with glossy finish on instrument panel and doors. Integrated music system with CD player, Aux and USB ports has four speakers. And what makes this variant superior and safer than the 1.2 LT is the provision of air bags for driver and front passenger.
The set of comfort features once again replicates the one in top end model without options. So yes, the windows are powered, the driver’s seat can be adjusted for height, the power steering the rake adjustable and the air conditioner is climate controlled. Further, there is s wash-wipe and defogger for the rear glass.
Chevrolet Beat 1.2 LT (O) comes with an anti lock braking system (ABS) unlike any other variant of this hatch in the petrol league. The set of air bags in front make this car safer and the safety level is further optimised by load limiters with front seat belts.
This rather unconventionally designed petrol hatch is a good buy if you need a small car for daily commuting and will be content with a fuel efficiency of 11.5 to 15.3 km / litre.
