Marketed as a ‘stylish and spacious city car’, Beat’s popularity in the economy hatchback segment has encouraged Chevrolet to maintain the product line over all three segments – petrol, diesel and LPG.
Beat 1.2 LS Petrol is a mid segment variant with 1199 cc 4 cylinder engine and 5 gear manual transmission. It gives a fuel efficiency of 11.5 km / litre in the city and 15.3 km / litre on highway.

The compact design of Chevrolet Beat with prominent creases and bulges gives this hatch its distinguishing look. Along with the standard features shared with the base variant, the 1.2 LS gets tinted glasses and it has ORVMs on both the sides. The front grille also gets a chrome treatment on its edges. High positioned tail lamps look nice while also enhancing visibility of the vehicle at night. It is available in a range of vibrant colours that comprises Super Red, Cocktail Green, Switch Blade Silver, Linen Beige, Caviar Black, Misty Lake, Summit White, Sandrift Grey.
With few additional features and glossy finish, the cabin for this mid segment variant feels a little plusher than that of Beat 1.2 PS. The semi fabric seat covers have design inserts. Instrument cluster has a silver finish for classy look. What’s more, there is silver accent on steering wheel and a high gloss black finish on the doors. A digital clock on the dashboard is another feature that has been added in this variant. But once again, there is no music system.
Beat is known for the comfortable ride it offers and Chevrolet also provides all standard features for more comfort inside the cabin. Along with the elementary attributes of the base variant, Beat 1.2 LS Petrol comes equipped with front power windows and driver seat height adjuster. You can fold the rear seats in a 60:40 split to get a flat surface which will offer lot of space to make a long trip more convenient. This model of the hatch also has a passenger side vanity mirror.
Besides the basic provisions for safety as in the base variant, this one also has a central locking system and a day/night rear view mirror. Chevrolet claims that almost 60% of Beat`s structure has been fabricated with high strength steel that adds strength to all critical points in the car.
Beat 1.2 LS Petrol costs Rs 4.19 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi price) and is therefore approx Rs 28000 more expensive than the base variant. With a refreshing new design and comfortable ride, this simple to maintain car is a fine value for money proposition.
