Audi RS 5 4.2 FSI Quattro Standard Features & Specifications, ARAI Mileage and Price

Another super car from Audi’s stables, the RS 5 is a coupe that does not have the impracticality which we generally associate with cars of its class. It is a two door coupe and also very thirsty but the ones who can bear fuel costs, will find it an easy to drive, enjoyable car. Audi launched the facelifted version in India in 2013.

Under the hood, the RS 5 4.2 FSI Quattro has a 4163 cc V8 engine that churns out 444 bhp at 8250 rpm and has torque of 43.82 kgm at 4000-6000 rpm. This motor is coupled with dual clutch 7 Speed DSG. Let’s now look into the features of the coupe:

Exteriors

With its revised styling, Audi RS5 4.2 FSI Quattro gets more of its family looks. The wedge shaped headlamps acquire LEDs and the hexagonal front grille has a mesh design instead of slats. Similar pattern has been used for the air dams on the sides of bumper. RS5 4.2 FSI Quattro measures 4649mm in length and the slope of roofline is not very abrupt. A sharp and rising crease line on the door panels puts that sporty feel in the design. Nineteen inch alloy wheels are standard but twenty inch size is also available for customisation. At the back the trapezoidal tail lamps get a stylish design and extend to the boot lid. Audi has started using LED technology aggressively and so the illumination power of these lights is also enhanced by same. The bumper design has been tweaked subtly for the facelifted model and diffuser is two tipped in the characteristic Audi super car style.

Interiors

The two door coupe has an ergonomically devised cockpit. A glossy black finish highlights the centre console and fascia for instrument panel. Design revisions are also evident in the three spoke multifunction steering wheel and column stalks. There is a common hood for MMI screen and instrument console. Silver/red inlays here and there give the cabin a sporty air. The seven inch MMI screen has music system and Driver Information interface.

You can play CDs, MP3 files and Bluetooth connectivity is provided. The gear lever stick is wrapped in leather and the control switches around it have a soft feel.

Sports car enthusiasts will like the looks and feel of RS 5 4.2 FSI Quattro’s cabin and can also customise it in leather variety and patterns of their choice.

Comfort Features

Once again, this coupe is practically for two people in front. The seats at back may not feel very comfortable to tall adult passengers as they do not get enough legroom. Nevertheless, Audi designed the cabin for four people and does provide seat belts and airbags for rear seat occupants. Even the air conditioning/heating comes with three zone climate control. So, yes the cabin is more comfortable than that of Audi TT.

The power adjustable front seats include memory feature for driver’s side. Steering wheel can be conveniently adjusted for rake and reach. Besides audio and cruise control buttons, it also has gearshift paddles to give the driver greater command over the coupe. Electrically adjustable ORVMs and parking camera aid in getting a better view of the road and vehicles behind. Parking sensors have been provided for both front and rear. MMI navigation system, engine stop/start button and smart access card entry are other comfort elements of this coupe. There is a cooled glovebox and maps pockets have been carved on the front doors.

Tool kit, car jack and tyre repair kit are provided with new Audi RS5 coupes.

Safety Features

Audi RS 5 4.2 FSI Quattro is equipped with all safety features that have been standardised for Audi cars. It has anti lock braking system, electronics brakeforce distribution and brake assist. The car has been fabricated for security with features such as electronic stability program, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system and crash sensors. The parking brake is electromechanical. You get six airbags including side air bags for rear seat occupants. Front and rear impact beams are also offered. First aid kit and Warning Triangle feature among the list of safety elements.

Anti theft features comprise alarm system, engine immobiliser and also anti theft wheel bolts.

Audi RS5 4.2 FSI is priced at Rs 1 crore 72 thousand (ex showroom price Delhi). It is not a fuel efficient vehicle but well customised for those who look for style, fun and super car performance.
