Chevrolet Enjoy gets price value equation bang on

Chevrolet with Enjoy and after Sail notchback, seems to have understood the fact that Indian car buyers can understand value. They just seems to have a knack of estimating and understanding value proposition very easily. Chevrolet Enjoy will sure find favour with them thanks to it's great price value equation.

Even in our wildest imagination, we couldn''t have anticipated such a low price for multi utility vehicle (MUV) that is generously capable of commuting you comfortably with your extended family of up to 7-8 members. As cued by their recent launches, we always knew that Chevrolet would price Enjoy competitively; still starting price as low as Rs 5.49 lakh left all of us dumbstruck and flabbergasted.  Reason being that in this price range an average Indian consumer can only expect to buy either a premium hatchback or basic sedan that in any case can’t sit more than 4 adults in comfort or at the most 5 in a rather cramped manner. But that was the story hitherto as now in a sub-6 lakh range customers do have an option of buying a genuine and spacious MPV in the form of Chevrolet Enjoy. This ultra-low price has made this new kid on the block as one of the best value-for-money cars not only in its competing segment but across all categories. So after heaping all the praise on Enjoy’s VFM, we now head to more crucial question regarding its overall capability to perform on other critical aspects like space, comfort, convenience, performance and dynamics. Though an exclusive road test of Chevrolet Enjoy will reveal its overall performance especially on engine and dynamic fronts; still our first impression is detailed enough to get you intimate about the Enjoy that is indeed carrying high hopes of Chevy in MPV segment.
Chevrolet Enjoy looks like a very proper MUV. Without any doubt, in first lance only, people will associate Enjoy unmistakably as people mover vehicle. Low stance, raked windshield and subtle tipped-forward approach make the Enjoy a true MPV. From look point of view, Enjoy is a mix of a bang. Front fascia looks contemporary; thanks to the assemblage of grill and head lamps as single unit. Small air dam with tear-drop fog lights lends an air of sophistication to Enjoy.
But move aside and the Enjoy starts loosing its charm. In profile, this MPV looks bland and plain but then none of other contenders is beautiful either. Tyres look skinny and low stance is very evident that could pose problem in our pathetic road condition especially when Enjoy will be driven fully-loaded with 7 persons. Belt line tries to make some aggression but low glass area and meek arches limit the effects of that effort. Also we would have liked low window line with large glass area that could have made the roomy cabin even roomier.
Rear too like the profile view is deprived of any beautification efforts. In fact it feels that Chevy engineers have drawn the rear style inspiration from XYLO which is not at all a good thing. A heavy non-camouflaged rear doesn’t even try to hide the bulbous and stubby butt and this certainly makes its rear view a bit awkward.
What Enjoys loses on aesthetics and beauty front, it tries to make up with its ultra-utility and practical nature. For starters, cabin is huge and roomy making Enjoy a comfortable cruiser for 7 people. That said, seats on first two rows are far more comfortable; thanks to availability of split captain seats on second row too, than the last row which features a regular bench.
Climb up in the cabin and two-tone black-beige interiors welcome withy the airy and cheerful feeling. Quality is surprisingly good especially when compared directly against the price. Grains are soft, tactile though the AC air-circulation knob is fiddly. Instrument cluster is simply laid-out but is very readable. Driver seat features height-adjust and there is power switches for all around windows. Theatre style lamps ensure god lightening for all and so is the efficient cooling made possible by roof mounted air vents.
On the aspect of practicality and comfort, Enjoys really let the passengers enjoy to their fullest. Second row captain seats assure guaranteed comfort and third row too is not at all that bad as in many other MPVs’. With all the three rows up there is little space to accommodate your luggage but then the flat floor option that can be made by fully folding of third row will serve the purpose of travel with a large luggage. In addition to the front cup holders and ash tray, another thoughtful touch is provision of 12 V multipurpose power-outlet in the third row that meets a constant charging need of electronic gadgets.
This brings to end our first impression of Enjoy and to know how Enjoy runs on its wheels and up to what extent it can carry its comfort level while in motion, keep reading ecardlr that brings you slightly inspired yet stupendously informative roads test of all the wheels that matter most to you.
