I own an A-star 2012 model which I have purchased on last Diwali. I am getting an average of around 15 km/l and quite happy with it. Also the pick of my A-Star is very good and I have no problem with it. I and my wife are actually newly learnt drivers so there is always a competition to get to driving seat as we both like driving as much as we can have.

In initial days my wife used to avoid driving in traffic but once she successfully drove in the market she now doesn’t let any chance of driving out of her hand. According to her driving A-Star is very easy and I am fully agreed with her. I don’t think we could have driven any other car so easily without any problem and it is when we are new learners.

I find the gears very fun to use because of its small size handle. I find it quite entertaining to change the gears and sometimes I do this to get that good feeling of changing the gears. Also I feel that switching on the AC results in low power as I can directly feel the drop but in case of heater it doesn’t happen. For the some days we are regularly using the heater of the A-Star and that is perfectly OK. There is no problem or drop of power when we switch on it and it is very good as it throws a hot air directly in the cabin at very good speed.

Our A-star has music system which was in the car from the company. Salesman told me that as this music system comes fitted from the company so it is superior to other local brands. But my wife who is a music buff doesn’t seem to be pleased with the quality of sound. However she finds the presence of aux–in quite good though I don’t see the utility of it as I prefer silence during the driving than the ear deafening loud music.

One problem that I think our car has is the small boot space. It is really small and good only for small luggage. I can’t even think of putting in some brief case or big luggage in the dickey of the A-star. It really disappointed me when I wasn’t really able to accommodate one of the small backpacks I use for short travel. It wasn’t that large and even then the dickey refused to get locked. I then took it out and then placed it on the back seat of my A-star where it had to fit in with passengers. I wish they had given the car some more boot space.

Steering of my A-star has horn which can be blown from three sides. It is loud and provides us convenience in case of passing through the traffic. But recently I have noticed that one of the pads has stopped working. Left side of steering from where I usually operate the horn has stopped working. This compels me to either blow it from centre or right side which is causing a lot of inconvenience because I have the habit of using horn more than brakes. I haven’t shown it to some local repair mechanic as I worry that they will further damage the system but then I don’t have time to go to workshop for this small work. I think I have to live with it until the next free service becomes due, because going workshop for this small think is not very justifiable as I need to take at least half day from my office.
