Staying in Navi Mumbai and working in Nariman point with Mumbai traffic and you know why a car with Automtic Transmission becomes a necessity. Long distance of travel means early start and as early as 7.am in the morning to make it to work before 9 am. And evening don’t ask, if you stay in Mumbai you will understand. Like others I am also annoyed with the authorities of traffic control because almost half of the time of my journey I spend waiting in one or another traffic jam. Be it toll plaza or normal road, traffic is one thing that really takes a negative toll on my overall calmness of mind.

So when I decided to buy new car it was very clear it had to be an automatic and no less. The cars with auto transmission will at-least reduce gear changing fatigue in start stop traffic of Mumbai. Long distance travel also means a diesel car was also a necessity as neither did I inherit any major property or money from dad, nor did my wife allowed me to get comfortable from my in-laws side.

Having decided my need (after all the car salesman was bound to ask me my need from a car) i.e a Automatic Diesel car upto 13 lacs, I started my search, and guess what i found out, except Hyundai Verna there were no other diesel car with auto transmission. Ford, Skoda and Volkswagen all had auto transmission but with petrol engines. Fortunately, Verna was a good looking car which also seemed to be Indian car buyer favourite. Another fortunate thing for me, no choice meant no confusion. I did the test drive of AT petrol and diesel both and then decided to go obviously go with the diesel version.

Now owning it for quite some time, I really feel much relaxed about confronting the traffic jams. I really wonder why for such a long time I remained with the gear box jiggling every now and then. Automatics are just so much comfortable especially in the traffic like our cities have. It is just about revelation to me and I am completely amazed and pleasantly surprised by the automatic Verna model.

I think most useful bit in the car is its reverse camera guiding system as I need not to see from the wind screen at the back. And I tell you that this is really effective while dealing the reversing situation unlike many other lip-service provisions like buzzer etc. that many cars comes with etc

Though in city I am happy with my Verna as it does the duty without any sort of fuss, on highway I think progress is little bit of lazy. Of course I am not a very enthusiastic driver but even then I feel it would have come with some speedy recovery. Although company has provided the provisions for manual shifting but that still is not very fast. I am although not complaining about it as my drive, most of times, confined to the city only. Another thing that impresses not only me but my rivals also is the design of Verna. I think my Verna in black colour is one of the best looking cars. I conceive the sharp edges and cuts in the Verna as somebody has literally come up with a number of swords and peeled off some of the specific parts of the car and added lots of style and oomph to my Verna.

Verna however, does not ride well, it has a tendency to move to the left side, got it checked many a times at Hyundai service station, but with not much success. Other thing I feel is probably is the suspension, which feels stiff and the car tends to lose stability at high speeds. What Verna demands is to ride it slowly and steadily.

Service response of dealership is very good as I usually get the reminder on the mobile about the time service is due. Overall purchase experience was also above average as sales consultant patiently listened and answered all the queries. My only grouse is the car’s desire to keep moving to the left, I therefore have to keep the steering well in control
