Maruti’s second-generation Ertiga is expected to launch in India during festive season. Read on to find what unique it has on offer.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is all set to launch the 2018 Ertiga MPV in the Indian market in the upcoming festival season around October. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the buyers and we thought it is a right time to apprise our readers about the significant features the second generation Maruti Ertiga MPV is expected to come with.
       Maruti New Ertiga
• Like the new generation Swift and Dzire, the new Maruti Ertiga will be underpinned by Suzuki's HEARTECT lightweight platform which offers more torsional rigidity while shaving off the unnecessary bulk considerably. In terms of dimensional integrity, the new model will be longer, wider, and taller although there hasn't been any change in the wheelbase which remains at 2740 mm. Surprisingly though the boot capacity of the new model has been reduced by 32-liter to 153-liter compare to the current capacity of 185-liter.

• In terms of styling and design, the Maruti Ertiga has received a comprehensive makeover in terms of new face and redesigned rear. The nose of the car is now defined by a new grille, sharper headlamps, and Aerodynamic bumper. The MPV has received a redesigned D-pillar and new tail lamps too. The changes inside the cabin are visible in the form of the new dashboard and Flat-bottomed steering wheel along with many bits that the company has taken from new Swift. The top of the line variant will get a large 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and automatic climate control.

• The Maruti Ertiga is expected to come with all-new 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine putting out 104bhp along with 138Nm of max torque. In comparison, the currently selling model makes 92 bhp and 130Nm. Diesel engine, on the other hand, will be ubiquitous 1.3-liter DDiS motor although Maruti will plonk the in-house developed 1.5-liter diesel engine under the Hood at a later point in time. The upcoming model is also expected to return by fuel efficiency thanks to the lightweight chassis and improvement in the frictional losses.

• The new Maruti Ertiga will be an affordable buy, especially when compared to the premium Toyota Innovacrysta. The only competition this new MPV is expected to face is from the Mahindra's upcoming U321 codenamed MPV which is still under the development phase.
