Keeping the heat on, leading luxury automobile maker Mercedes India is gearing up to launch facelift version of its popular GLA SUV in India on July 5. The car will be up against the likes of Audi Q3 and BMW X1 among others. The company has already unveiled the new model at Detroit motor show in January 2017 and no preparations are in full swing to get its India launch in the upcoming month.

There are few but crucial changes on the experience of the car which include replacement of bi-Xenon headlamps with LEDs. Grill has been redesigned and new alloys add the extra dose of character. The ground clearance has also been gone up by 30 mm thanks to the use of new suspension system. The raised stance also help to give a more rugged look to this SUV than before. The changes inside the cabin a few and far between with the overall dash layout and control panels continues to remain the same. That said, where is there is new instrument cluster with improved readability and extra functions.

There will not be any change in the powertrain department as the company is expected to retain the engines and transmission of the outgoing model. This means you will have a choice of a 2.1-liter diesel engine and 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine capable of putting out 136 bhp and 183 bhp respectively. In the international market, Mercedes has introduced GLA's range-topping yellow night edition and it will be interesting to witness whether this variant will finally make it to India.
