Datsun ready to introduce redi-Go 1L and AMT variant

Datsun is excited to launch the powerful engine in its existing redi-Go along with the AMT variant option. This variant will boost the sale of the car in India.

Datsun is emerging as the popular brand in the auto industry in India with its recent launch. Grabbing the market scope, this sister brand of Nissan is expecting to expand its product line-up in the market to provide customers with some better options in their dream hatchback and entry-level cars. Recently it is noted that the manufacturer is putting effort to launch some powerful variants of the redi-Go entry-level hatchback in India by 2017. This car is expected to share the same engine platform that is available in Renault Kwid. The Renault Kwid with its 1-litre engine is quiet popular and attractive car in the market. It operates on 5-speed manual transmission along with optional AMT that truly fits for the Indian roads. Thus, after the launch of the AMT in November last year in Kwid, it was expected that the same powertrain would be available in the redi-Go soon.

Considering the mechanical specification, the upcoming entry-level and AMT variant of redi-Go would be powered by the 1.0-litre engine that will produce the power of 68 PS with 91 Nm of torque. The car will be operating on 5-speed manual or an AMT variant. The mechanical experts have not cleared whether the Datsun will introduce the AMT dial-rotator knob shifter or the gear stick that is available in the Renault Kwid. It is expected that the AMT option will be available only in the top line S variant.

In terms of pricing, the Datsun redi-Go falls between Rs. 2.38 to 3.54 lakh. The upcoming 1L variant is expected to be priced at around Rs.3.85 lakh and Rs. 4 lakh for its AMT variant. The Datsun redi-GO introduced of the first time in India in July 2016 and was a decent selling car. The company is also expected to launch its sports edition of the redi-Go Sport.

Considering the popularity, the company was able to sell over 20,114 units in the period from April – December 2016. The company also exported 1.652 units of redi-Go between April – November 2016. After the introduction of the 1.0L engine and the AMT gearbox, this variant is expecting to boost the company sale and enjoy the competitive advantage in the entry-level segment in India.
