Datsun announces bookings of redi-Go AMT open

Datsun has announced bookings for redi-Go AMT open at Rs 10,000 booking amount. We get you more details here.

In a short span of time, Datsun redi-Go has carved a special place for itself in Indian automobile market. The car has been received well by the masses and especially the spacious interiors have struck a chord with the customers. Currently, Datsun redi Go is available in two engine choices - 0.8-liter and 1.0-liter. Now adding to the momentum, the company is planning to launch AMT variant of redi go and has already announced the bookings open. The prospective buyers can book the car by paying booking amount of Rs 10,000.

Datsun redi Go AMT version will be available with 1.0-litre petrol engine which puts out the maximum power of 68 BHP. The redi Go's 1.0 AMT engine and transmission hardware will be similar to what we have seen on Renault Kwid. However, we are not sure whether the redi Go AMT will have the Rotary dial like KWID or will come with the convenience of manual shifting like in Maruti Alto K10 AMT.The prices will be revealed at the launch of the variant and we expect the price will be at a premium of Rs 30-35k compared to the equivalent manual shifting variant. We guesstimate the price of new redi Go AMT to start from Rs 4 lakh.

Currently, along with other segments, Maruti Suzuki has also established itself as a leader in automated manual transmission or AMT category. The distinctive selling point of Maruti's AMT is its high fuel efficiency and convenience of manual shifting. This means at any given point in time driver can easily shift between automatic and manual modes which are really helpful especially during the Uphill manoeuvres. Datsun's strategic partner Renault has also launched KWID AMT but it has inherent deficiency of not featuring the manual mode because of which the car has failed to gain traction among the Indian buyers. We hope Datsun we learn the lesson and do not repeat the same mistake.
