BMW has silently added 7-series variant, the 740 Li DPE in its Indian model line-up at price of Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Here are the key details

Luxury car maker BMW India very silently added 7-series model to its Indian model line-up. The new edition comes in the form of 740Li which according to the official website of the company is that newly added petrol variant in 7-series. The retail price of the car is Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it comes in Design Pure Excellence Signature addition. It is important to note that this is only 7-series model that will be locally assembled in India while rest of this series vehicles are imported as completely built unit (CBU).
The highlight of the car is its powertrain which packs the capacity of 3.0-liter and feature 6-cylinder in the inline geometry. Thanks to the use of turbocharger Technology, the car makes 326 PS and 450 Nm of Max Power and max torque respectively. On the transmission front, however, the company continues to use 8-speed automatic transmission while some of its rivals have shifted to 9-speed gearbox. This partly explains despite being very powerful, it takes this car 5.6 sec to sprint from 0-100kmph. Still the numbers are very respectable especially when one consider the overall kerb weight of the car. Fuel efficiency, as claimed by the company, is rated at 12.5 kmpl which is relatively a good figure to boast about.

Some of the crucial features that the company is offering on this newly added 7-series model are damping control system which can adjust the suspension of the car independently, auto start stop system with brake energy regeneration, and core carbon construction. On the safety front, BMW has gone whole hog and Swift this model with all the bells and whistles. There are airbags for the front and rear passenger including side airbags, sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, automatic climate control, and electrically operated sunblind. With this new launch, BMW is looking forward to strengthen its position among the top most luxury segment of Indian automobile industry. The 7-series is up against the likes of Mercedes S class and Audi A8 among others.
