Hyundai is expected to unveil its new small car in October 2011. Nothing new, but what is new is that its possibly a 800cc, 50bhp machine which looks very much like mini i10 if pictures floating around in the markets are to be believed. With the economy expected to grow between 6-7%, auto industry is finally waking up to the harsh reality of single digit growth after heady double digits growths for last 3-4 years. Whilst, a single digit growth of 6-8% (as expected in the Auto Industry circuit) is not bad in isolation, as most markets in the world (except China) would give anything to grow at these rates, India however, is least prepared for this new reality.

Car sales growth is likely to taper to single digit this fiscal on the back of rising petrol prices and vehicle loan rates. SIAM the industry body, revised downwards the sales growth to 10-12% from the earlier target of 14-16% for the fiscal 2011-12 and this from a high of 30% in 2010-2011. Come September and Siam might become even more cautious. Petrol prices rose from Rs 61.94 to Rs 67.49 a litre in Chennai from April 1 till now. In Delh.....

One more new car and this time from Nissan. A 3 box car or a sedan as they are populartly known in India. The car is scheduled for official unveiling on 3rd August 2011. Worldover its known as Sunny or Versa, however, they will have to launch it India with a different brand name. With this new launch, the 8-11 Lacs car segment is going to get crowded further, which of late has seen pretty good action with the new Fiesta, Fluiduc Verna.....
