Most of the cars today are of unitized constructions i.e. a car in which the body, chassis and floor pan forms a single structure. This is also otherwise known as ladder on frame. It means the frame of the car is made out of one large piece. It is also sometimes called as uni-body constructions. This method makes the vehicle lighter and provides it with good structural rigidity. Most of the trucks, crossovers and SUVs are made under this method. These are also quite useful in the case of off-roading cars as they provide the chassis with flexibility when driving over the boulders. Cars like Maruti 800, Ford Mondeo, Mercedes and SUVs like Safari and other UVs are based on this model. The advantages of unitized Constructions Cars are they are less in weight, less flexing and less noisy. The major disadvantage of this is the lower towing capacity of the car.
