The edge of the tyre that is connected to a wheel is called as Tyre Bead. The wheels for bicycles, automobiles, etc come with a groove in which the tyre beads are made to sit. The tyre keeps the bead on the groove when it is inflated with air. It is secured tightly to the wheel so that it holds the air without leaking. The beads are to be fitted tightly so that the rotation of tyre does not make it to shift circumferentially. The drivers driving along the off-road usually decrease the pressure of air in the tyres which results in spreading out of the tyre which provides the tyre with enough grip on the terrain. But the loss of too much pressure will result in the bead to come away from the wheel which is referred to losing the bead. In those cases, beadlocks are used to clamp the bead to the wheel.  Beads also become frozen due to the rusting which could be avoided with the bead braker.
