Opposed Engine is a type of engine that has the cylinders parallel to the proportion of the ground on both the side of the crankshaft. Sometimes it is also called as boxer engine. Many leading vehicle manufacturers have used this system in their engines in past such as Volkswagen Beetle and Porsche flat six. The opposed engines has lower center of gravity for the vehicle. They are also very hard to pack in the vehicle as simple as the in-line engines. The rotation of the both the pistons in this engine might move simultaneously towards or away from each other. This type of engine was used in earlier years in many countries, but in today’s time hardly any vehicles use this technology. In earlier times, it was used in airplanes, cars, motorcycles, etc.
