Heel and Toeing is a technique of driving that is used in performance driving. But some drivers might use it every day on the road to achieve effectiveness. In this technique, brake pedals and throttle are operated simultaneously with the help of right foot whereas the clutch is normally activated by the left foot. This technique is used simultaneously in braking as well as downshifting. It helps the driver to deviate the throttle to increase the speed of the engine and to engage lower gear smoothly. This skill is necessary for all the competition drivers but this could also be used on the roads. It helps brisk driving into a smoother one by combining two movements into one. For a good driver, smoothness is the hallmark and it also reduces the strain on the drive train as well as gearbox. It is also a misnomer as it involves pressing with the foot whereas accelerator is pressed with the side of the shoe.
