Electronic Throttle is also called as drive by wire which makes use of the electronic signals to control the throttle instead of the mechanical signals i.e. when you step on the car’s gas pedal, the driver will be activating the accelerator pedal module instead of opening the throttle. This will convert the pressure which the driver puts on the pedal into an electric signal that is sent to the Electronic Control Units that takes the input as well as outside variables and opens up the throttle for maximum performance as well as efficiency. Though it is a complex system, it comes with it quite a lot of benefits related to the engine wear, efficiency and performance. Apart from making the driving safer and easier, it also reduces maintenance. It is a key component in most of the cruise control systems. It is to be noted that the data collected by the car’s electronic brain helps it to achieve many objects like car’s state of tune, quicker throttle response or smooth progression based on the conditions and better fuel efficiency. It also integrates various features like traction control, precrash systems, cruise control and stability control. Electronic Throttle works “behind the scenes” and helps the driver in achieving easy execution of gear changes as well as deals with the dramatic torque changes that are related to the acceleration as well as decelerations.
