A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is also known as gearless transmission, single-speed transmission, variable pulley transmission, or one-speed automatic. This type of transmission can adjust effortlessly through an unlimited number of efficient gear ratios amongst the minimum as well as maximum values. The belt driven CVT design presents around 88 percent efficiency. The CVT is available in various types such as reeves drive or variable diameter pulley, roller or toroidal based CVT, magnetic CVT, infinity variable transmission, ratcheting CVT, hydrostatic CVT, naudic incremental CVT, cone CVT, radial roller CVT, and planetary CVT. Almost all of the snowmobiles utilize the idea of CVT along with the motor scooters. This technology is also used by car manufacturers such as Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Proton, Mitsubishi, Jeep, etc. One of the tanks made in Japan also uses Hydraulic mechanical transmission.
