A deviation in the direction caused due to bad road bump and not due to any input from the steering system, driven wheels or brakes are called a bump steer.  This happens when a wheel changes its course due to a bump on the road surface probably due to faulty or worn out suspension kits. It can also lead to accidents however new technology suspension systems have kept this is in mind, and modern suspension kits are fairly capable of handling bumpy roads and avoid losing control of the vehicle. Even though racing cars normally have bum steer designed out of he system, it is always present to a certain degree in regular traffic vehicles where the ride can be a compromise.  Bump steer is usually momentary however a vehicle that is not controlled in time can be disastrous.  Regular maintains of suspension kits and brakes are a must for good maneuverability and to avoid misdirection on poor road conditions.
