Verito is the only sedan owned by Mahindra. It has a long and quite interesting history as it took birth as Dacia and was unveiled by Renault Nissan in 2004. In India, the car was first unveiled as Logan in 2007 in partnership with Mahindra. Later on, it completely became Mahindra’s and then was renamed and re-launched with some changes as Mahindra Verito in 2012. In January 2013, Mahindra launched the Verito Executive Edition.
The name ‘Verito’ has been derived from a Latin word ‘Veritas’ which means ‘Truth’. In the Indian market it is competing with the likes of Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Verna and Tata Indigo. The vehicle comes in petrol as well as diesel engines, both of which have been sourced from Renault. It is available in 5 different variants namely VeritoG2 (Petrol), Verito G4 (Petrol), Verito D2 (Diesel), Verito D4 (Diesel) and Verito D6 (Diesel).
The petrol engine has a displacement of 1390cc. It comes with 4 cylinders and 5 speed manual transmissions. It promises to deliver a maximum power of 75 HP @5500 rpm where as the diesel engine offers a displacement of 1461cc. The diesel engine is also equipped with 4 cylinders, 8 valves and offers a maximum power of 65 HP @4000 rpm. The Mahindra Verito petrol engine has a fuel efficiency of 11.3 kmpl in city conditions and 15.7 kmpl on the highways where as the diesel engine can offer 13.8 kmpl in the city conditions and 19.2 kmpl on the highways.
Now moving forward to the looks, the all new Mahindra Verito looks quite impressive from the outside. The chrome finished front grille with body coloured bumpers and the strong looking wheel arches gives the car a superior look. The headlamps are very large and powerful and come along with a leveling device. Unlike its previous version, the new Mahindra Verito places the indicators above the headlights. It has a laminated windshield on the right side and two speed plus intermittent front wiper which helps in getting a clear vision during rainfalls. From the side, the car adorns a stylish 10-spoke alloy wheels with tubeless tires. Verito body coloured outside rear view mirrors with body side moulding imparts it a sporty look. The rear end of the car has finely designed tail light cluster, side turn indicators and reversing light with a high mounted stop lamp. The chrome finished rear appliqué and the body coloured rear bumper with integrated reflectors gives a completely different persona to the vehicle.
The interior of the all new Mahindra Verito also looks quite remarkable and appealing. The car has a spacious headroom and legroom. The two tone dashboard and the instrument panel give a premium look to the car. It has a variometric air conditioning system with silver colored outer rings for the Air Conditioning vents along with ergonomic controls and a cabin heater. The dashboard also consists of an advance 2-din audio system with speakers that consist of a CD player, a USB interface and FM radio. The car also has a tachometer. The instrument cluster has a luminous LCD display which has a digital clock, shows fuel consumption, temperature, petrol gauge and a ‘headlight on’ warning indicator.
The seats have plush fabric upholstery with options depending upon the customer’s choice. The wide rear seat is also very comfortable. Every door in the car has its respective button for power windows which makes it comfortable to operate. In terms of spacing, the car has a parcel shelf, sun visors and a mobile holder. The high end variants also have an ashtray and a bottle holder to make the car more comfortable for the passengers. Other features of the car includes anti theft engine immobilizer, a good suspension and braking system to make the driving more comfortable.
Apart from its style and comfort level, the all new Mahindra Verito is also well equipped in its safety features. The car consists of ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD. The car has a driver airbag to protect from front collision. It also has a collapsible steering column, adjustable front seat head restraints, adjustable rear seat head restraints and adjustable front Seat Belts.
Some other safety features include Central Locking, remote door locking, child proof rear door locks, anti-theft alarm, halogen headlamps, rear and side impact beams, key less entry, adjustable front and rear head restraints, door open warning light on IC , electrical rear window child lock , laminated windshield, front and rear fog lamps etc.
