27Feb 2014. It was the year 1981, when the world automobile industry got a new brand in the automobile industry. This is the most precious year for the automobile industry around the world as the Japanese company, Honda City launch their first ever Honda City sedan with different variants. Their first introductions in the market were AA for Sedans, VF for newly styled vans and for the wider turbo II it was FA. This was the first generation of the Honda City where as the second generation car manufacturing of Honda City started in the year 1986 and this was the stage where the company introduced some new brands. The company introduced the second-generation car with Honda City (GA1). During the year from 2008 to 2013 was fifth generation and during this phase the company launched many different variants of Honda City. The year, 2014 is considered as the starting of the sixth generation and the company starts the year with 1.5 Ltr i-VTEC and 1.5 Ltr i-DTEC. The new models of Honda City are available with both diesel and petrol engines. There is a buzz all around the world regarding the new launch of the new sedans by Honda City. As per the report from Honda, it has been said that the new sedans have already been booked for 9000 units and this is just pre launch booking. There are availability of two special variants on petrol and diesel and both have been designed and equipped with more advanced techniques. Hence, choice is yours to choose the perfect variant for you. The company has fixed a reasonable price for the new launched Honda City and this will start from Rs 7.42 lakh for the ‘E’ variant with the facility of base petrol engine. In comparison to Hyundai Verna, the price of Honda City is cheaper by Rs. 90,000/- approx. The elegant looks with stylish designs have made this sedan a perfectly comfortable for the car lovers. The brand new Honda City sedans have five major variants. These are, E; S; SV; V;VX and all these models have been designed uniquely.
The first generation of Honda City was first launched in the year 1981 as a subcompact car initially meant for Japanese, European and Australian markets. The vehicle was then stopped from production in 1994 after its second generation.
The City was again launched in the year 1996 as a four door compact sedan. From then to till date the car has developed over from 1st generation to fifth generation; the first as in 1981, second in 1986, third in 1996, fourth in 2002, and fifth in 2008. In India the car was first launched in 2008 and then its face-lifted model Honda City 2012 was launched in the December 2011. The CNG variant was launched in October 2012.

The all new Honda City is powered with 1.5 L (SOHC) 4 Cylinder, 16 valve i-VTEC engine. It has a displacement of 1497 cc and comes equipped with electronic fuel injection. The vehicle can deliver maximum power of 118 PS @6600 rpm and maximum torque of 146 NM @4800 rpm. The car has a disc brake on the front and drum brakes in the rear. The engine is E10 compliant and has Euro IV emission levels. The manual transmission engine promises to deliver 16.8 kmpl while the automatic transmission promises to deliver 15.6 kmpl. It has a fuel tank capacity of 42 L.
When it comes to the exterior, it looks like an arrow shot form that really looks exceptional. It has a got a sporty front bumper and glassy chrome finished radiator grille along with a Honda badge in the centre. The front has a contrast black air intake vent that looks well with the overall design. On the roof the first in class electric sunroof gels well with the looks. From the side, the car has an ORVM with turn indicators and 10 spoke allow wheels that adds to its sportiness. Moving on to the rear the car has got an aggressive looking bumper with tail lights.
In terms of dimensions, the new Honda City 4440 mm in length, 1695 mm in width and 1485 mm height.
In the interior, Honda really has one of the finest things to boast about. The car has rich beige interiors with fabric upholstery and rich quality plastic in the dashboard. The leather upholstery is available only in V (AVN) and V Sunroof MT/AT variant. The seats are comfortable enough even for the long journeys. The car has ample legroom and headroom both on the front as well as in the rear seat. The instrument panel has a soft blue lit display and has a speedometer, tachometer and a fuel indicator. The 3-spoke steering wheel can be tilted as per the driver’s convenience and has mounted audio control and cruise control. Other excellent features of the car include advanced integrated audio (USB/AUX/MP3/AM/FM), rear speakers, Audio Visual Navigation & Bluetooth (available only in V (AVN) variant), wireless audio remote control, driver seat height adjuster (Lever Type), power door lock, power windows, seat centre armrests (both front and rear), day and night mirror, headlight alarm, foot rest, headlight adjuster, front seat back pocket etc.
