A mid engine, 2 seater super car, Audi R8 employs the German automaker`s trademark Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was first unveiled at Paris Motor Show in the year 2006 and launched in the same year. This super car has been completely planned, developed and fabricated by Audi`s high performing private subsidiary firm Quattro GmbH. It shares Lamborghini Gallardo`s platform for chassis and engine.
The central fabrication of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and it has an aluminium monocoque body that is built with space frame principles. It is assembled by Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm, Germany. The R8 sports coupe was brought to India in 2008. Even before the actual product could hit the markets, Audi bagged 15 bookings for this opulent vehicle.

Audi designers have used leather in different colour combinations to create a sporty ambience for the interiors. The Bang and Olufsen music system can mesmerise you with its sound quality. With its high resolution, colour display the navigation system guides you smartly to the desired destination.
Being a sporty coupe, the R8 also comes with an array of safety features. It has big air bags on front and side for driver and the co-driver. The structure of the car has bend-resistant impact beams on its sides. Furthermore, a lot of magnesium and aluminium has been used in fabrication - this adds toughness to the body. Audi has optimised the safety of R8 with advanced systems such as Anti-Slip Regulator, Electronic Stability Programme and tyre pressure monitoring.
In India we now have three variants of this super car: the R8 V8 Coupe, R8 V10 Coupe and R8 V10 Spyder. A 4163 cc petrol engine powers the V8 and it can churn out 423 bhp. The V10 models have 5204 cc engine and this has an incredible power of 518 bhp. All cars have 7-speed Stronic transmission.
