JULY 2012 SALES SUMMARY

1)      Month-on-Month 3rd consecutive month of drop.

2)      Maruti unfortunately experiences another low in terms of Human Relations with its workers at Manesar Plant.

3)      Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai both experience major volume drop for their old models over last year same month, for example:  Eeco  - 89%, Omni -20%, Alto -30%, WagonR -10%. All these cars contributes to a volume drop of 14829 cars for Maruti, whilst Santro -43%, i10 – 30% adds to Hyundai’s woes.

4)      Swift’s over 3000 % growth is all thanks to Maruti preparing for the New Swift Launch , thus reducing stock of old model . New Swifts adds 11000 cars to the kitty and Ertiga adds another 7000 cars in July 2012.

5)      However, Maruti should be given benefit of doubt, thanks to the strike.

6)      I20 and Verna saves Hyundai from major blues and EON adds more number delivering  8% growth over last year same month.

7)      Tata Motors delivers stellar numbers even with their old models . Tata Motors problem seems to be its new cars, which have not proven to be great success.

8)      Mahindra & Mahindra seems to have got the sales magic right, except Xylo and Verito, Scorpio and Bolero are still going strong , with XUV 500 adding numbers to their overall kitty.

9)      Toyota has a problem with their Corolla and Etios. Hope Etios recovers next month as the car, sure has lots of fan following among Indian car buyers. Innova seems to have become Indian car buyers most preferred car. It seems to have stabilised around 7000 units per month.

10)   GM and Ford still seem to be having problems in garnering sales number. Fortunately both these car manufacturers have spate of new launches lined up which could help them revive their fortunes.

11)   Volkswagen’s top dollars spent in Marketing seems to be losing steam. Add to this, spate of resignations at the top. Both these factors, means that it would be some time, before one sees major growth story from this manufacturer.

12)   Honda seems to have caught the Diesel bug. However, we believe there could be other reason to sharp declines. City sales drop is really worrisome for Honda. Remove the Brio July 12 numbers and the sales drops to just 2671 units for all cars put together, which is just 65% of City sales in July of 2011.

13)   Both Volkswagen and Renault seem to be finding it difficult to manage their siblings or associates. VW with Rapid hurt Vento and Renault over priced Pulse to protect Micra. Don’t know why?

14)   Over all the Indian car market has grown over July last year, but consecutive drop in sales month-on-month over last 3 months is not a good omen.

Fortuner 2.7 4x2 ATEndeavour Titanium 4x2 AT

Fortuner Vs Endeavour full blown SUV Competing for Buyers Wallet. Real SUV for SUV lovers from Toyota and Ford. Endeavour and Fortuner comes in 4*2 and 4*4 drive train. Fortunately both have the muscle, looks and power under their hoods to take any terrain with ease. Whilst, on paper feature to feature and engine comparison seems to be tilting the balance in favour of the Endeavour, however, Toyota has enough fan following who will willingly ignore any marquee for a Toyota at any price. Lucky Toyota.
